I have 10 SRs and currently I store them in a tote box. Some are in their original boxes (I have 2 Carbo Magnetic SRs and their boxes are quite interesting). I have some that have no boxes and I am trying to decide what is the best way to store them..both for looks and safety...and preservation. Any suggestions?
I keep mine in a airtight plastic box with a handfull of silica packs to reomve any moisture. I keep my blades in another box exactly the same size. It makes them stackable, and organized.
I would like to follow this conversation. After wiping mine dry, post-shave, (including running toilet paper through the scales) I let it sit out for the night and then I put it back in the SR box my great-grandpa had it in. (I'm an every other day shaver). Not sure if this is the proper way to do it.. Never thought of it other than knowing I have to keep it dry. Having said that, I can't wait til I have more!! Some great displys here http://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/how-do-you-store-display-your-straight-razors.46421/
I have a felt roll that hold 7 razors...and I keep this roll in a tote box. I was wondering, though, about storing/displaying them in an open display...not in a damp area? Or is it better to keep them "closed"? No little kids around, so safety is not an issue. But what about preservation? Does the open air affect them? I was thinking of something like this (Thanks Google images)...
I dry them with a micro fiber towel and put them in a drawer with silica packs. I have 16 per drawer and rarely have issue.
No my straight razors are in one box, my de and se blades are in another. My point was they are in a humidity controlled(as much as possible) airtight boxes.
