  1. Sunday Shower/Shave

Shower- Noxzema facial cleaner, Dr. Bronner's All-One Hemp Citrus bar soap
    Brush- RazoRock Tri-Colored
Razor- The Bunny with Wild comb
    Blade- Schick (5)
    Soap- Route 66 Barbershop Hop
    Post Care- Crystal Alum
Thayers Witch Hazel with grapefruit EO and M-Bomb
    Florida Water with M-Bomb

Happy Father's Day! A glorious shave today, I think this one might have been my best ever. I loaded up the Wild comb today to tackle 3 days of growth. The blade went through my beard like a hot knife through butter. Effortless shave, no pulling or tugging, zero blood and the alum and Florida Water were both silent. This is the shave I need to replicate when the Bunny moves on. The Barbershop Hop performed flawlessly, wonderful scent and excellent protection. I took my time today and did three passes. My wife has a wonderful day planned for me. I'm getting ready to have some of the bacon maple biscuits she made yesterday. In about an hour I have a masseuse coming to the hour for an hour deep tissue massage. Then for dinner she's making me her famous ribs and potatoes. I'm a happy man today! Have a great day folks!

    SHAVE DEN SUNDAY
    Happy Fathers Day to all!

Trying out a 1912 Gem Damaskeene today.

I've also been encouraged to try it with stropped blades. So with a well-intentioned nudge from @twhite (as well as some NOS blades and a stropper he PIF'd to me) my less-than manly mechanical skills will be challenged yet again.

    Hot shower, cold-water shave.
    Razor: 1912 Gem Damaskeene
    Blade: NOS EverReady Corrux
    Brush: Rubberset 400-4
    Soap: TSD Yin Yang
    TSD Witch Hazel
    AS: TSD Yin Yang

Two-day growth, three-pass shave - WTG, XTG, ATG

    1st pass - rough!
This was not smooth at all. Must have not stropped very well. Fortunately I did have a PTFE blade at standby from my last shave with the Damy. But - result was the same - rough, rough, rough.

2nd pass - I returned to my TTT mantra - "ride the cap" and rode so high on the cap that the blade angle to my whiskers must have been near zero. But it was better as I alternated both blades.

3rd pass - continued to alternate blades and riding high on the cap and got some satisfaction. ATG on the chin was a "no go" but was able to buff a clean finish there.

I did salvage a very close shave that has stood up for over six hours so far.

Obviously I have more work to do with my stropping technique (I did 20 laps prior to this first shave with a new blade) as well as with my shave technique and blade angle with this razor.

    Cheers!

  3. Sorry to hear it. Kind of strange the PTFE blade was rough too. Keep trying.

  4. Shave 9 with Corrux stropping blade.
So after my shave last night I gave the blade 10 laps on a pasted strop. I chose the British 1912 for tonight. I am leaning towards this as my favorite model 1912. Anyhow did a 3 pass shave DFS results. The shave seemed a bit smoother today. I will give the blade 10 more on the pasted then finish with 20 on the regular strop. Just to see if I can get a bit better edge. I know the blade is still performing. As I can go ATG on the upper lip on the third pass. If it is not sharp that is a no go.

I will continue to use this setup until the blade gives out.

  5. I know you are having fun.....Isn't a great 1912 a wonderful razor? This last Dammy I picked up has proved to be extraordinary....So as you know....I never know which 1912 is going to knock me out til after the shave.....I had an old beat up Star that was so ugly I didn't try it for ages...Then one day before I piffed it to a friend, I tried it, just to make sure it wasn't gonna be dangerous or something.....And you know that rascal turned out to be one of my best shavers...ha,ha....Too late....I had promised it to a friend, and I just told him how lucky he was....

Now that was almost 2 years ago....I just talked to his daughter and she told me he has never tried it....He is still using his Fusion....Afraid, he's going to cut himself....ha,ha.....I'm going to have to run him down, and set him straight!

Good morning friends. Easy three pass shave routine this morning with the twin blades. I highly recommend these blades for those who have injectors that can accommodate them, they are worth the extra cost. Beautiful slick, cushiony lather from my Route 66 soap for a dolphin smooth and refreshing finish. Have a great day guys. :happy069:

  8. I just had one of the best shaves of my life. I paired a NOS Dutch Schick blade (aka the Dogs Danglies :chores016:) with my type D. I have not been overly impressed with the D in the past. It's a really good razor but I had never gotten the shave others have reported. All that changed today. Wow.:happy036:

This was one super, super smooth shave and super, super efficient. I easily could have stopped after one pass, and was at a more than solid DFS after the second. The third was dolphin smooth with minimal touch ups needed. Well, they weren't really needed but I went after them anyhow. This is a blade that is at the top of the game of being smooth and sharp. I paid extra attention at being careful with minimal pressure - no "help" from extra pressure needed. This blade is deceptively sharp and that extra care allows it to do what it does best - cut whiskers and not skin.

Still on the road. Pics will return later for my posts. Decent shave today. I'm in a hotel this morning and the bathroom lights were dim. Made it harder to shave that way. But decent overall. Not sure I like the scent of the Lucky Tiger Aspen. I only have a sample so no real loss there.

    Have a great day!

    1-day growth, 1-pass shave - ATG
Yesterday's brief interlude with the 1912 Damaskeene was much closer than I thought it was, leaving me with just a 1-pass clean-up this morning which the L and Twin Blades zipped through in record time.

Off on another business trip for most of the week. Will be taking my H2 travel razor. Have a great week all!

    Cheers!

Does the Proraso Green splash have menthol?
  16. It sure does! It isn't going to freeze your face off but is very cooling
  17. As you all may or may not know I'm fairly new to Schick Injectors. I purchased my first ever injector 4/23/16 it was the M3 Protector. I've only used Chick blades in it until today when the package @twhite sent me arrived with an injector of twin blades in it. All my shaving has been done with SE razors (1912, Gem Damaskeene, Ever Readys and the likes along with a few straight razors. The last 2 months I've been using my M3 Protector and my G1 more often in preparation for the arrival of the Bunny razor later this year. I have enjoyed the Schick Injectors very much until tonight. The M3 paired up with the twin blade is totally amazing. I did a 3 pass shave WTG XTG and ATG tonight. The WTG pass was great with very sufficient reduction. XTG was even more amazing with total smoothness and zero stubble left. ATG was just because I had enough lather left for a couple more passes (thou shall not waste good lather). I had such a wonderful shave so close and smooth that I'm thinking its my best shave ever.
