It looks to me like some sort of British tech, about 1940, except the handle doesn't match up. It's my Uncle's razor, who is sending it over to me from Aus. He seems to remember the handle has always been with the razor; doesn't remember where he got it (which country). I'm looking forward to trying it out. He has a slim too. Says he doesn't shave with them as he can't afford the blood loss at his age Has anyone got one or shaved with one? Thanks.
Not sure but you may have a 1939 Tech see attached http://mr-razor.com/Rasierer/Tech/1939 Tech Hybrid England from Richard Snyder.jpg
If you zoom in on the top picture, it looks like it's got the Gillette diamond logo. I wondered that, but the writing stamped on the guard is in a different position. On Mr. Razor's site, it is printed above the centre hole but on my uncle's razor, it is stamped underneath. Maybe it's this one. http://www.mr-razor.com/Rasierer/Tech/1943 (N2 on Blade) Service Set No11 England.JPG It seems to have been given free with a packet of razor blades. Aren't razors brilliant?
I know that handle from a NEW. But at this time (around the end of WWII) it gives many matches with NEW and Tech parts. Nice find!
I have one just like this. I will get some photos done tomorrow to compare. Sent from my GT-I9305T using Tapatalk
Oh I see, it's a new handle and a tech head. This was quite normal then, I suppose Gillette were using up any spare parts. Would the case in the picture be correct for my razor? I'll have to try and find one. Thank-you.
Actually, mine's a bit different again. It has a gillette tech head, but the handle is slightly different again to the one posted earlier. Can't say I'm too fussed about the purity of its origins. It's taken a few weeks, but I've found that with a Gillette Yellow in it, it shaves like an absolute champion over three passes, no cuts, no irritation, etc.
Speaking of Australia, my father served in the Australian navy. I was showing him my razor on Skype the other day, and he was interested that I was shaving with a DE. I asked him if he had any old ones sitting around, and he casually mentioned that "Oh, we used to get issued with those as standard! I had a drawer full of them but threw them out years ago". I don't know exactly what he got issued with, but I have a feeling he probably had a lovely batch of classic razors that I've missed out on.
