First you despise The Fat, play a huge role in the "lovely" CT I now have, and now you are taking shots at my beloved Veg?!?!?!
I've done the slide a few times and really didn't notice any difference in the cutting ability then with a straight stroke. However lately I've be doing a wtg pass followed by two opposing diagonal passes and it gives me as close a shave as an ATG pass with no irritation and keeps the ingrown hairs at bay. I think the slide works for me just because of how the hair on my neck grows. I haven't tried it on my face but haven't had to. I have done diagonal after WTG and agree it can be highly effective.
@Mr. Freeze93, congrats on the CT! Today's shave was a quick two pass with the goose, as I was late for work. Soap of the Gods is a decent soap, but I have a lot of better ones. I do love the scent on this one though. Got a pretty good shave on my face, cheeks, chin, jaw, and neck. Two weepers from still learning the Mongoose, and the new handle changed the balance. I also shaved my upper lip again. Did I mention that I have this thing in my face that I get oily and flakey bumps on my face when it's hot? They also get worse under facial hair, which hasn't been a problem with a stache. This is the second time I have shaved my upper lip since I started wetshaving. These three facors made for a memorable shave. I did get DFS smooth, but I counted 14 weepers on my upper lip, after the alum and cold water. The alum made me kick my leg like a dog and danced like a marionette. I dried that off, and then splashed some witch hazel on. That burned a little, but didn't hit too bad. Then I had the brilliant freaking idea to splash scented alcohol on the open freaking cuts on my lip that are inflamed with bad shaving technique and what ever the heck is wrong with my face. I didn't want to yell and wake up the kids. Instead I swore and woke up the kids. My three year old asked me what one of the words meant. SWMBO was not impressed.
I feel your pain Drygulch or at least I think I will around my Birthday when I try out my straight razor.
Continuing my SR focus Today was low brow shave with Arko and my Omega Pro boar brush. Lots of great lather for the Rasuprur Western grind kami to do it's job. Just one small cut at the bottom of my neck and no other blood. Just a light tickle from the alum and BBS. I am getting the consistency with SR shaving I hoped to achieve with this months SR focus. Summer Solstice 2016 Decided to stay with the sun until it went down, gorgeous skies tonight. The longest day of the year is in the books. Spent about three hours working over my head on electrical stuff today...unfortunately, it was after a full day of work. For the first time ever, I am declaring my hands and forearms too fatigued to use a straight with confidence...and that brings me to my un-shave of the day for 20 June 2016: Razor: none Brush: none Soap: none Post: none AS: none The pic is how my afternoon went. So rather than shave, or write about shaving, I decided to smoke a pipe instead. And now I am not writing about shaving, but rather I am writing about not writing about shaving, Now, I feel better, and life goes on. How about we try again tomorrow? Headed for 100F on the prairie, almost warm enough to wear a short sleeve shirt with the overalls! Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado. Have a terrific Tuesday!
I'm going to have use a modified version of your tagline if you will permit me. ......all is quiet in Georgia
