June 23/2016 Razor: Speedway Blade: Super Maxx (4) Lather: Italian Barber Brush: ??? Pre Shave Oil: Homemade A/S: Gillette Gel/Brut Splash On Newspaper date: Dec. 9,1943 Edit: You realize Lowell Thomas at 9:30 was RADIO(no tv). Smooooth 1st pass, WTG straight forward, gliding like an ice skater, no irritation or weepers, just blade mowing down whiskers(beautiful). The 2nd pass was pretty much like the 1st, just one tiny "tic" at the corner of my mouth, which washed away easily. All in all I say a DFS+ and a Happy Camper. Wish the same or better for all. Bill
Slim Adjustable set to 9 Ladas Blade LPL Face Lathered 3 passes Well, LPL disappointed me again. The lather I get out of it is no where near MDC quality. So, I have moved it out of my normal rotation. That leaves only four on my rotation: MDC, PDP, L'Occitane Cade, and my french soap mix (a combo of the above).
Wash - Meissner Tremonia Puristic Prep - Noxzema / Hot towel Pre shave - Proraso Razor – iKon B1 Deluxe Blade – Timor Brush - 'Mama Chub' (Simpson Chubby 2 Two Band) Soap – OSP Bay Rum Post - Witch Hazel another one of those 'it really doesn't get any better than that' shaves...very impressed with the Proraso/ OSP combo, and the iKon/Timor combo gave a very smooth, irritation free shave..
Lowell Thomas was the reporter in New York who announced that Charles Lindbergh had arrived safely in Paris.
Correct, sir. I think that some of the members have apps to enlarge the comics or they have much better eyesight than I do. I`m unsure about the wisdom of posting them for that reason. Do you have an opinion? Bill
Well, as you recall, I made a comment to someone yesterday I think, who appeared to have read the whole job ad-I said he probably needed a powerful magnifying glass to read it. I myself can make out the headlines, and the pictures are great. The comics are hard to read-the words I mean(my "view" at least-oh that was bad !!!)
Wish I knew how they do it, maybe one of them will share their secret(eagle eyes, I suppose). It is what it is, I guess. Bill
I usually zoom in with the phone to read the old newspapers Bill posts, but sometimes it will blur the writing.
CJB/Kai (1) Stirling 24mm Finest 2 Band MdC Thayers The Veg Lovely shave today. Just looking at the MdC it lathered itself.... ok not really.... 10 second load gave me enough lather for my regular 4 pass shave. 4 passes later and I reeled the baby in. No nicks or irritation. The Thayers felt refreshing and after a cold water rinse I splashed on a big handful of The Veg.
Lol no problem Bill. I always like reading the old papers you post, it's a glimpse into simpler and better times IMO.
SOTD June 23, 2016 Blade: Chinese Schick Razor: Bunny V2 Brush: Semogue 1520 boar Lather: Ginger's Garden Salty Mariner Post: Witch hazel splash, Nivea sensitive balm WTG, XTG (upper face only), WTG and touch-up on neck Pretty good shave with the Bunny V2. I struggled again with the blade angle on my neck. This caused a little irritation again that calmed down with the Nivea balm. The Ginger's Garden lather was thick and rich - beautiful stuff. My upper face is pretty smooth but I have some stubble in hard to reach areas. The larger head of the Bunny makes the small areas harder to clean up. But overall good shave. Have a great day!
