When I finished up with the Adagio splash, my wife expressed, "That's the first fruity scent you've used that I actually like." Adagio is heavenly. The first impression from the soap is a light cherry that's soon enveloped in a lovely green fruit note. It's not your typical fruit, however. It's not quite citrus nor is it quite melon, yet it has characteristics of both. The cherry sustains throughout as a clean musk base builds. This is another artfully crafted scent that one expects from Barrister and Mann, but it remains light in spite of its complexity. The light cooling from the gentle menthol is welcomed this time of year. Adagio sports the latest base from B&M, codenamed Glissant. Glissant provides an easy lather and incredible slickness and protection, but the post shave is my favorite aspect. The splash is the same scent overall, but there is a slightly tannic first scent that fades in less than a minute, leaving the beautiful Adagio cherry, green fruit, and musk notes. My only complaint is that it simply doesn't last long. Given it's light nature, it's probably by design, but about 2 hours later, I can't detect it. I do highly recommend Adagio, and if you think you don't like fruity scent profiles, you may yet like Adagio.
  6. SUNDAY MORNING SHAVE

    Prep: Occams crushed lime
    Razor: Gillette Black Beauty (6)
    Blade: Sputnik
    Brush: Fine Angel Hair Synthetc
Soap: Local Gent Lime Street (sample)
    Post: Stephans Island Lime (iced)

    Cold water shave

    Sunday night/Monday morning shave

Prep: MLS Sandalwood pre shave butter
    Razor: Gillette Redtip
    Blade: Super-Max Chromium (4th shave)
    Brush: Everready Badger-lon
Soap: Van Yulay- Classic Ride (sample)
Post: Thayers Peach/ Stetson Cooling moisture

Decided to shave again tonight so I can save some time in the morning, plus the first shave was not as close as I prefer. Have had a lot of problems with getting a good lather with the Badger-lon no matter which soap I use the lather quality is poor. So I tried again bowl lathering this time, and got a stable enough lather to shave. The Van Yulay soaps make wonderful lather so that wasn't the problem. I have noticed i have a harder time making lather with cold water, hot water seems much easier, but went with all cold water for both shaves. Surprisingly no irritation for shaving twice in 24hrs. Hope everyone had a great shave!

Excellent shave this morning, the PAL Adj. is a magnificent injector and Haslinger represents everything I love in a shave soap performance wise. Slick, cushiony and protective, just wonderful. Three easy passes and I'm silky smooth and refreshed. Have a great day friends. :)

  15. Just got three sticks at $2.89 each and one 100ml tube of cream for $4.49 with free shipping from England. Best deal I found yet. Love this stuff. Great shave and smooth feel afterwards. Took about two weeks to get them.

  16. Today's SOTD as follows;

    1946/47 Gillette Aristocrat.
    Gillette Silver Blue blade.
    Proraso canned goo.
    Captains Choice Sandalwood aftershave lotion.
    Vintage English Leather cologne.

I just scored this Aristocrat on the bay a few days ago. It was priced with a BIN of $39. The only thing wrong with it was that it had a bunch of unsightly varnish/lacquer on the doors. I spent a day gently cleaning it off, and now I have an awesome example of an Aristocrat. Today's shave was a two pass BBS to boot!!! Have a great day everybody.
