Razor: EverReady SE Blade: GEM Blue Star Brush: WDC-8 Brass Handle, Druida Manchurian Soap: TSD 2X Iced Yin Yang A/S: TSD 2X Iced Yin Yang A very cooling shave on a hot day. The WDC-8 w/ Druida Manchurian knot whipped up a great lather. The EverReady with the GEM blade mowed down the stubble with excellent feed back.
Well no SOTD for me today, I'm waiting until tomorrow for my Birthday SR shave to see what 2 days of growth will be like!
SOTN 6/27/16 Razor: Geo. W. Korn The Real Strop: Drygulch Leatherworks Horsehide/ Linen Soap: Dr. Jon's Bandit Brush: Dubl Duck M-2/ Omega 10067 boar knot Post: Cold water, alum, Thayers' Aftershave: Beaver Woodwright Bandit Wanted to give this razor a test run before sending it off to @Norcalnewb along with two friends for a loan next month. This razor is fun to use. It is small and light. The curve on the tail of the handle works as a great place for your pinky for leverage when shaving down the face. When shaving up, it fits perfectly in the palm. Two passes, and DFS. This soap is almost a cream, and loading the brush takes a light touch. The aftershave had just the right amount of menthol. Overall, good shave.
I did a late night shave, as I'm getting up early to take my daughter to gymnastics camp, and also I just felt like it. It's been a hot day here so I decided to go with the coldest soap I have, Stirling Glacial Lemon Chill. I worked up a nice bowlful of frigid lather with my Omeaga 49 and did 3 passes with the ATT slant loaded with a Perma-Sharp Super (2). I'm getting some of the best shaves I've ever had with this razor. BBS, zero irritation and very little touch up required after the 3 passes. I'm extremely pleased with the ATT. One more shave with the Perma-Sharp then it's a coin flip over Voskhod and GSB for the shave after that. A splash of Lemon Chill Witch Hazel and Aloe, and I'm sufficiently cooled off and ready for and early bedtime.
Are you employing a linear stroke pattern with the slant, or does the urge to J hook (aka Gillette Slide) take over?
June Focus Day 26: Stirling Synthetic Brush Stirling Cool SS Injector Type J Stirling Unscented PSB Stirling Glacial Lemon Chill AS What a way to start my work week. I had a very nice shave, even if it was a bit rushed. The Stirling Cool was perfect this morning, providing a great, slick lather. This Injector is so easy to shave with, I almost feel like I'm not trying. I capped it off with some Stirling Glacial Lemon Chill AS, which put a nice chill on this shave. I usually splash a little AS on my shoulders and chest, and the Glacial Lemon Chill left me feeling like the Vicks Vapor Rub from my childhood. Of course, it does smell a bit better. I hope everyone has a great day.
I am definitely looking forward to trying this razor out. It is a great looking razor, so if it shaves half as well as it looks, it will be a great shave.
Yes, its a standard hollow grind, and short. The blade is a little over two inches long. This is probably my most unique razor to shave with. Designed in 1903, and just plain awesome. No, just a reflection on the blade. The blood didn't happen until about 10 minutes later. I will be sending it your way tomorrow or Wednesday. I will be interested in hear your impressions of it.
SOTD June 27th Ericsson Open Comb Treet Platinum (3) Blades Grim Smolder Satin Tip The Purest Good morning friends! First time trying the Ericsson and what a great shave! It doesn't feel quite as aggressive as the New SC but it is just as efficient. I am really loving vintage open comb razors. Just two passes this morning for a DFS. I did manage to give a little twitch at the end of a stroke that gave me a little nick on my neck but not even that could diminish how great my face feels. Have a great day everyone!
