It's so long shave of June and get ready for the first shave of July tomorrow. It's been a great month of shaves and thanks to some people on here it has gotten even better. So goodbye June and hello July see everyone on the other side. Now for the last SOTD of June..... SOTD 6/30/16 Pre: shower, Nivea face wash Razor: Gillette Fatboy (3) Blade: Gillette 7 O'clock super stainless (4) Brush: TGN Finest in Olivewood handle Soap: Catie's Bubbles sandalwood Post: cold water rinse, Maggard alum, witch hazel, Nivea sensitive aftershave balm, The Veg Tonight I got another BBS shave, 3 passes and a little clean up. First pass was WTG and I got good beard reduction. Second pass XTG and even more beard reduction and was DFS at that point. Third pass ATG and that got to almost BBS, then the clean up got me the rest of the way to a full BBS shave. I rinsed off with cold water and took out my alum, it was completely quit on my face. A splash of the witch hazel confirmed that I did a good job shaving. So now onto the Nivea to re-hydrate my face a little, and then splashed on the good ole green stuff we like so well, The Veg. That's it for June boys and squirrels, and I have a lot of people to thank for what I have and where I'm at with wet shaving. Thank you ever so much to the people that has helped me out with shaving supplies and gear over the last two months I could not have come this far this soon without you. Secondly thank's to everyone over the past two months that's helped me learn proper technique. I'm looking forward to July. Lastly a special thanks to NCoxSTL and Bama Samurai for these threads, without you two this would have not been possible. I leave you all now this last post in June for July's thread, see you on the other side.
The Cartel is still in tears of joy having another convert to the most glorious Voskhod!! Ivan is sobbing and pouring another round of drinks for the house. My typing may deteriorate if he keeps this up, either from too much vodka or my keyboard getting too wet from the tears of joy!
Jolly Good June! June 30 A week of just plain good shaves (except for a couple) Razor - 1959 Gillette Super Speed Blade - Soap - Proraso Brush - BoS Omega 10066 Post - The Veg - because I don't sell without it Final June shave and I wanted to end on a good note. So, grabbed the '59 SS and a Ladas and loaded up. I chose Proraso because I'm debating using it as my soap for the blade project coming up. Still haven't decided what I want to use. Check out the July thread for a bit of discussion about that. Obviously had a great lather out of the Omega and the Proraso. And, two passes had me near BBS so I went ahead and added a bit of ATG and Gillette slide to the finish to get the baby out for the day. NICE! Splashed on the Veg which didn't produce a burn, and headed out to sell, sell, sell!! It's been a great month. I achieved high levels of shaves with straights and pain sticks, very few nicks and cuts along the way and feel like I have the technique for them down very well. It will be quite awhile before I revisit them for more than a day, so I'm glad I accomplished it this month. As always, a fantastic month here with the 30 Day Denizens. For all your participation, encouragement and just plain learning and fun, what else can I say besides.......
Jolly June!!! Leopard Week Hat tip to Andrew on the blade, I saw it on the @Linuxguile blade trial thread and decided to use one tonight. Will do it again tomorrow. Great month guys! I am just gonna take it over to Neal's July thread. Other than that... All is quiet in Colorado.
30 June 2016 shave Razor: Gillette SS 1947 (Birth Razor) Blade: Gillette Platinum Brush: Simpsons CH1 Chubby Best Badger Soap: RazoRock Don Donato A/S: RazoRock Don Donato Experiencing internet problems. DFS today with this combination of products.
This was a fun month for me. Only significant change for my technique is doing my touch up pass as XTG, rather than ATG on my neck. This seems to be giving me a better results and less irritation. My shave from Wednesday:
At the risk of bringing up the Tiger again... I was just perusing eBay and saw this listing: http://www.ebay.com/itm/252445064487 It's for a "Vintage Gillette Gold Tech DE Safety Razor with a new blade 1940's" and appears to be a gold 48-50 ball-handle Tech. The interesting part is the "new blade"- a New Improve Quick Tiger! Talk about clueless seller... pairing a Tech with a 3-hole blade and one that really should not even be called a blade, at that.
Yes another fine seller who is clueless as to what things really are. Not a bad looking razor but I have no idea why he would include that blade.....other than to get rid of them. Which is the recommended thing to do with them Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk
