I'd procured a couple of brush lots off of eBay and decided to take a few and put new knots in them. This is was my first try. I ended up drilling out the old knots because the first batch of vintage handles were ruined by the steam removal method. I used plaster of paris to fill the hollow handles (Eskine and Rubberset), then used hot glue to create a level shelf. They are all set with golf shafting epoxy. I polished the handles with plastic polish on a small buffer/grinder and used a Dremel with a soft cotton polishing disk for detail (fluting and seams). Left: Aristocrat with Whipped Dog 22mm Synthetic Center: Erskine with Maggard Razors 22mm Synthetic Right: Rubberset with The Golden Nib 24mm Synthetic.
You and all of my PIF friends. I like it too. It shined up really nice. I used it this morning and the WD knot whips up awesome lather.
I have a WD brush and it's awesome! I like it so much that even though I'm not prone to naming inanimate objects it's picked up the nickname "Buddy", because it "treats me like a buddy". I have named no other shave gear.
It's good to have a "Buddy." I haven't named any of my gear either, but I do have an 1912 Ever-Ready that I should probably name, "Slash." Or, maybe I should call it "Hurts;" cause it hurts like a muthaf**ka.
