I refreshed the blade I've been using in my wedges. Despite a refresh, I still had some tugginess on the initial pass on a 2 day beard. It was fine after that but it just doesn't seem right that no matter what I do (short strokes, refreshed blade, attention to angle, light to no pressure, etc.) that the first pass should always be a little uncomfortable. I think it's time I learn to hone a new blade or two. No getting around it. The shave itself was good - a solid DFS with BBS in places. Once again the Haslinger's was phenomenal. Bunny Round 4 (round 3 was yesterday, just didn't post about it) The Bunny V3 mild comb, Chick blade (4) Vie Long Horse Hair Viking Soap Opium Den (vegan edition) Post: Clubman Original Had an excellent 3 pass shave for my 4th go around with the Bunny. WTG, then XTG in both directions and only WTG on the neck. It was a DFS for sure with no irritation. Alum was silent for over a small mole that I mowed over. It was the first bunny shave where the chin and jaw were not irritated, still not very close there but I call this a win. I think what I have the biggest trouble with the Bunny is maintaining the proper angle while shaving the chin in a EtoW or WtoE manner or the jawline with vertical strokes. But for this shave I finally got the hang of it. I'll be able to speak more on pros and cons after a couple more shaves.
THE EAGLE HAS LANDED..... What have we here: Shall we open the top? Now to awaken a sleeping beauty And when you pull the nub at the bottom of the handle a stropper comes out. You then unscrew the handle from the razor and screw it into the stropper: I give Honor to JB deMesquita for designing this beauty and getting her patented and manufactured by 1909 as The New Ever Ready This is a picture heavy thread......I'll post the first review in another post....Suffice it to say, "Long Live the King"
Review as promised.....Let me start off by thanking @Billyfergie for helping set me up! This 1909 Ever Ready is the first incarnation of the ER 1924 Shovelheaded lovely...As one would expect, it shaves somewhat similar. Only more so....It's the smoothest....Smoothy.....Smooth....did I say smooth? I shaves closer than my 1924s but smoother aswell.... This was a first shave with my most sought after holy grail.....so I don't want emotion to play a role....BUT, we all have those shave-life defining moments....Today's shave was one for me.....a BIG one! I must say....I was a little taken aback by how perfect deMesquita got everything with this first model ! We will see what the coming weeks may bring...... But for now....All Hail deMesquita's Masterpiece, the 1909 New Ever Ready !
BUT, we all have those shave-life defining moments....Today's shave was one for me.....a BIG one! Can't think of a cat who deserves it more.
Its a Corker..Polished Up Well..Very Few have these 1909s..It Went to the Right Cat..Glad You Like it.. Billy..

SOTD July 6, 2016 Blade: Chinese Schick Razor: Schick L injector Brush: Satin Tip 'The Purest' synthetic Lather: Stirling Barbershop Post: Witch hazel enhanced with Skin Bracer, Nivea sensitive balm WTG, touch-up Nice shave again this morning with the Schick L and Stirling Barbershop. This injector has been on loan to me from @BearCWY and I'm planning on sending it back to him today. I enjoyed my brief time with the Schick L and would gladly use one or own one down the road. Good shave in one pass with touch-up. The Stirling whips up into some of the shiniest lather I've ever seen. It's incredibly stable, slick, protective, and all around top-notch. The scent of Skin Bracer goes really well with the Barbershop scent of Stirling. All in all a nice shave. Hope everyone has a great day!
OK, now your just teasing me with all these beautiful razors that I have never seen before. I'm going to go broke trying to find and acquire some of them especially a Rolls Razor! LOL
Well its not hard to tell where all the wedge blade razors are at. Nice collection Billy. I'm so jealous. Some day I'll own one I hope . Ken P.
I Sold Most of these Recently to Fund some SRs..I kept the Kampfe, CV Heljestrand & the Rolls...The CV Heljestrand is the Cream of the Crop in My Humble Opinion...These are Precision made Shaving Instrument's..Might even be the Finest SE Ever Made...The Rolls is Up there as Well..These Hollow Ground/Wedge SEs are Only as Good as the Honing & Sharpening Skills of the User.. That's Said it Wouldn't Cost Much to get them Honed by a Competent Person..I Don't use Gem Blade SEs anymore..I Couldn't Look at them anymore after Shaving with these Type of SEs..That's the Danger Right there..There is a Warning..That Good ?..You Betcha.. Billy..
