So I tried a couple shaves with a P*74 in it. Figured I should shave with the set as the maker intended. Beautiful shave. Smooth and sharp, while finding the angle was just about a no brainer. Felt like a vacuum cleaner.

I have not yet tried to test the legendary longevity of the *74 since I've been in injector razor and blade test mode with about 20 different injectors over nearly the past year. But this was one of my favorite combos.

As timing has it though, I'm presently doing a month-long focus with the Personna FH and PAL InjectoMatic using a variety of blades. Will do a blade/razor assessment at the end of the month.

I agree (as always) with @Billyfergie advice (above) about shaving with this set.

Recently (and posted below) I posed the P*74 question to the usual Injector suspects:

Positive assessment, but Bob's situation seemed to also affirm my sense of "too many razor/blade combos, too little time!

This is My Last Shave with the Cobra before I Pass it On So here are Some Final Thoughts..The Cobra is by No Means a Blood Letting Monster..After having a few Shaves its More Like Middle of the Road in Terms of Aggressiveness..Around about a Schick Type G Injector with the Same Pro Blade..Its a Very Forgiving Shaver..Very Smooth..That said..Folks that Cant Handle or Not Used to a Crazy Sharp Pro Blade like this Might Confuse the Cobra as being an Aggressive Shaver because these Blades are Not for Everybody..They are a Lot of Blade for Sure..

A Lot of Folks that have Purchased the Cobra are Folks that will haven't Any Experience of Aggressive SEs or Injector Razors & Will be coming from a DE Background..There isn't a DE Out there that is as Aggressive as Some SEs or Some Injectors for that Matter..The Cobra is Well Balanced & Just so Beautifully Made..I Really Like this Razor a Lot..

I Haven't any Criticism of the Cobra except that its One Hell of a Price..Then Again So is a Head Nipping Wife that's Just Gonna Grow Old & Wrinkled..I wouldn't get No More than 4 Great Shaves out of a Feather Pro Blade the same as in any Razor..They Dull Very Fast & I Enjoy a Crazy Sharp Blade..

The Only Advice I can offer to Folks is this..If You Reckon a Crazy Sharp Blade is Not for You then the Cobra Might not be the Razor for You..I say this because using other Blades in this Razor is Just going to Take Away what the Cobra Actually is..You are as Well as Buying a Gillette Tech..I have used an Array of these Types of Blades & all they Will Do to the Cobra is turn it into Very Mild Razor..Of Course that's Fine & Dandy but I Just Don't see the Point of Buying a Porsche & then Detuning it..Thats Me Talkin Mind..

Thank You Martin for the Opportunity to Have a Go with You're Cobra..Its Been a Privilege that I have Enjoyed..Don't Take this to Heart buts its 10 Times the Razor of You're OneBlade..

A truly wonderful three pass shave today. Easy slick, rich lather from the Figaro Monsieur shave soap. This soap smells lovely and provides excellent skin care. The PAL Injecto-Matic does it again for a dolphin smooth finish. Happy Monday friends.

I don't have a picture to share at this time, but I'm using my recently acquired Gem Damaskeene all week.

I paired it up with a Gem Personna blade, Semogue boar, Stirling glacial lemon chill and store brand menthol aftershave.

What a great way to start the day!

Post: Witch hazel splash enhanced with Osage Rub, Nivea sensitive balm
WTG, touch-up

Redemption shave today after two poor shaves on Friday and Saturday. Didn't shave yesterday but the G1 had no problems mowing through two days of growth. The blade felt smooth and sharp and the razor performed terrific as always.

The Proraso Green is a mild menthol soap that performs consistently well. I only used a little Osage Rub mixed with my witch hazel to add a little more coolness to the shave. All in all a nice shave to start off the work week.

I've had this minty Streamline set for months and today was the day I broke it out. I wanted to try it out with a vintage blade which I did. The posts of the last day or two were very helpful for prepping a blade. Practice makes perfect and some more practice is needed. The vintage blade was tolerable but not smooth. The reduction wasn't so hot either. So, halfway through I switched to a fergie shim and a modern blade. Very noticeable difference all the way around.

The Streamline is a nice razor. Smooth dolphin skin finish, great feedback (more like velcro than buttered toast to my ears), no nicks, cuts, or weepers, solid as a tank, feels good in the hand - just a solid performance in every way.

I followed Billy's advice and stropped the Ever-Ready blade with some ChromOx on felt followed by leather. I did the same on a straight and they both smoothed out. I had a great shave today using both.

Today's Shave: Monday July 18, 2016

Gem Damaskeene
Gem stainless steel ptfe (2)
Fine Angel Hair synthetic brush
Chiseled Face Groomatorium Santa Paula Citrus soap and aftershave

I guess I have a theme of sorts this week: Classic SE's that I haven't used in a while.

What can I say about the Damaskeene that hasn't already been said? It's a great shaver. It is also a whole lot more aggressive than yesterday's Featherweight, although smooth as silk. This particular Damaskeene is a curved top Gem Cutlery Co. model.

I probably should be experimenting around with vintage stropping blades but I still managed an excellent shave with a modern Gem stainless steel blade.
