Pre-Shave: Cypriotian Olive/Argan Oil soap, cold water
    Razor: BBS-1
    Blade: Voskhod (1)
Brush: Vie-Long Epsilon Horse (aka poor man's Chubby Super)
Lather: Mystic Water Bergamot, Cedarwood & Juniper
Post-shave: Alum, Barrister & Man Kyovu Original, South Australian Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  3. My top four soaps, no particular order:

    Route 66 Lumberjack
    Arko Shave Stick
    TSD shave stick
    La Toja Shave Stick

Arko was designed for barbers in the Middle East, for use with straight razors. It's one of the finest tallow based soaps you'll ever find. It provides great cushion and glide for straight shaves, and works in all variety of water hardness levels. The scent is almost identical to old school Ivory Bath Soap, very bright and lemon fresh. The scent is definitely polarizing, little middle ground on this product, though it doesn't stick around past the rinse. Some people report that it is drying to the skin, but I haven't had that experience. It's 13-15 bucks for a case of 12 sticks, and that would make it a true honest value in shave soap. The stick you see in the pic has 50+ shaves on it and about 30% remains.
  4. Ok...1-10 rating...how good is the vie long compared to a super badger or great synthetic?
  5. Is there any difference between the stick and the puck?
  6. I can't answer that directly, I've used only the sticks. Before I face lathered, I would just cut off a couple of thin "coins" from the stick, and press them into the bottom of a bowl. Works like a charm.
  7. Giving the Beaudelaire a go again (an odd and intriguing scent to be sure... Still trying to figure it out I suppose) but with the DeLuxe this time...

First time using the SdP, great cushiony lather, pretty slick, really impressed.

    Alum Rub & Rinse
    Floid Vigoroso A/S

I quite like the feel of this razor whilst shaving, very agile and manoeuvrable. Though the shave was smooth I was not quite able to get the close shave that I like, without quite a bit of extra work . The blade does enhance the performance of this mild razor , but for me it does not match the
    PAL injecto -matic.

Happy Friday. I decided to celebrate and reward myself by using some of my favorite products for the morning shave. The CH2 is the synthetic brush for badger guys. It is exceptionally dense with great backbone and very soft tips. The MdC whipped up into a mountain slick lather. I get great shaves from the Cobra Classic and this morning was no exception. The Cobra just wiped away the whiskers. Finished off the shave with a splash of Fine Platinum. I hope everyone has a great Friday.

Today starts my 3 week summer-vacation followed by 10 weeks paternal leave. Works starts again 7th. November.
Marked it with some of my favourite stuff for todays shave.
2,5 days stubble (again, I know I know, I'm falling behind!) was easily removed by the slant.
    Really great shave this morning!

  20. For the last several shaves I had been on a roll. One great shave after another. Today that ended. Today I had three weepers an uncomfortable shave and not even so close. Tomorrow another string of great shaves begins. I hope everyone has a great shave today.
