I've just purchased this - it hasn't arrived yet. I've never seen one before. Does anyone have one or have any information about it please? The seller didn't know what the knot was made from but thought it had never been used
Here is a set that would of had it. Seeing that you have a gold canister , I believe this is the set it was from.
Seriously, you guys are awesome! I just spent a hour browsing the net; emailed two people; came back here and you've solved it. Thanks. It's going to be really small isn't it.
That is great. For some reason, I love little handles like that. Now I am going to go have to find one!
I have a few old Ever Ready handles that are in this size range. Be prepared for it to be very small. Like under 1.5 inches small. Or at least the handle part. Maybe about 3 inches total. I could never figure out why they were so dang tiny, now I see they came in the travel canisters. Happy that this thread solved that mystery! All the canister sets I own convert the can into the handle with screw on bristles, or came empty. I am not particular about complete sets, I just want to shave with the razors. If you decide you dislike it, shoot me a PM.
Will do. That is small. I've just realised, this brush is 86 years old! That's something isn't it. I actually love that there are people on this forum, that collect/restore these old brushes and keep them going for another 86 years.
Yes, the age of some of this stuff is crazy. I bought a beautiful unused men's grooming set that came with the original note from Christmas 1917. It has a shaving brush, some soap, and a couple military style hair brushes. Everything is sparkling new, the shaving brush is a nice supple boar. I am going to use it Christmas morning 2017, exactly 100 years later. I cannot tell you how excited I sm by the idea.
Whoa. Unused, as well. Wow, that was a find. There seems to be loads of good stuff, in the States. Obviously it's bigger than the UK, so more was produced but looking at shaving brushes, for example, there are many iconic US makes that we just didn't get over the pond. The postage makes everything really high priced.
And the same can be said for the UK version of gillettes that we can't get here. Lol care to make any trades?
I actually have a cool little UK Gillette brush. Going by the box and logo, it isn't crazy old. 60s maybe? But I don't think we got these in the states:
Well, since you asked nicely. I do feel like a bit I am hijacking the thread though. I just get excited about shave brushes!
