1. So you get a closer, smoother shave from a less efficient and milder razor? Speechless......:happy102:

  2. It sounds like you do not have quite the right angle on the second shave. It sounds like your pressure is pretty good. If too much pressure you will get razor burn. On your next shave, use A feather like touch. As light as you would if you were to tickle somebody with a feather. That helps me get a great shave with all of my injectors.

As you are last on the list, please take a few weeks with it and really get to know it.

    By the way great reviews.

    Tom

Take some more time getting to know the PAL Injecto Matic and it will blow the Merkur away. Nice reviews, keep them coming. :happy088:

  11. Thanks Tom, not for now. I'll just "watch". I'm in the Pal Adjustable pass-around.

  13. Haven't kept up with the thread; life's gotten in the way. Anyone find the Injectomatic too harsh, or nearly so?

  15. No, I've had a few of them. It was VERY efficient but a tad too much for me. Pretty sure it's because of the carbon and less than ideal stainless blades I was using at the time. But now I'm quite content with my E2, the finest injector I've ever had.

  16. Ok, third shave, deliberate focus on lightest touch possible, same results: good, but not great, shave. Sorry if that scandalizes anyone. I'm going to shave with my trusty Merkur + Voskhod blade tomorrow to do a sanity check, and then resume with the PAL next week. I'll experiment with the angle and whatnot.

  17. If you want to check your angle when you come back to the PAL IM just start with the head flat to the face and lower the end of the handle until you feel it cutting the whiskers. :happy088:

  20. Update:

Sunday I shaved with my trusty old Merkur 33c and, yep, much better shave, and a more enjoyable shave as well (whoops, I'll step aside out of the path of gray matter from exploding brains!). I also watched a couple of videos and did some general research in preparation for....

Monday's shave, back to the PAL.

Stirling Menthol pre-shave soap > homemade pre-shave oil > Parker badger brush > Stirling Orange Chill soap > PAL > Stirling South Padre aftershave balm

This time I really tried to pay extra attention to the angle and the touch....start with the head flat and bring in the angle a bit, keep the touch light. Did I get a good shave? Yes! Did I get a great shave? No! Did I enjoy the shave? Not really!

I don't know if it's a technique thing or what, but this razor just ain't happening for me. I'm going to give it a few more tries (I mean, how could so many shave geeks be wrong?) I'm going to load a new blade tomorrow (it's possible that I got a bad blade, but pretty unlikely). I'll try to get all zen-like and stop worrying about proving this razor out and just....shave. Maybe put on some ambient Brian Eno music or something....

While I was researching I came across something interesting that made me go "hmmmm". It was a poll on another forum for "DE vs Injector". The results showed 75% preferred a DE razor. However, almost all of the comments were pro-injector. Could it be that there is a vocal injector minority cult that I've somehow stumbled on??? Am I safe? Is my family safe?

Seriously, though, I'll continue to give it the old college try...

And, seriously, someone else needs to sign up for this!
