No Problems, just start off with a fairly dry brush and only increase moisture gradually. I start lather in bowl and build it up on the face.
Did the added weight of the handle change your shave that much? Only one shave down but I REALLY like The General.
Actually I really, really enjoying it with the heavier [brass] handle. I think next I will experiment with a long stainless steel handle. Happy you enjoyed - great razor isn't it? It has become my 'travel razor' when heading out on weekend getaways, etc - small, compact, lightweight and allows me to shave with a SE blade so no worries about the blade getting dull should I be away for a few more days

Not sure whether it was the blade, the soap, or the shaver (me), however, I did end up with a few weepers. The Captain's Choice isn't as slick a soap IMO. The Dorco blade seems to suite my vintage Gillette's, but perhaps not the Timeless. It is definitely not the razor.
Love this brush. Great balance, feel, and fits my hand perfectly. The Envy knot holds a lot of lather and whips it up in no time.
