    Satin Tip The Purest
Lime AS & Nivea Sensitive ASB

On my first shave of SEptember I decided to use my very first SE Injector, the venerable Schick G1. Ans as I completed my first pass I thought to myself, "Man, why don't I use these more often". The first pass with the G1 had more reduction then two passes with a DE. I could have stopped at the second pass with a very nice DFS. The third pass reeled in the baby. The alum was silent and my homemade lime AS paired perfectly with Dr Jon's Hydra. A little Nivea to make things silky smooth and my face is feeling great this morning. I am really looking forward to a month of awesome SE shaves! Have a great day my friends!

  3. Nice tool chest for SEptember. :happy088:
  4. The OneBlade Razor :)
  5. Thanks Roby. That Gem OCMM gives fantastic shaves and all of that menthol is a real eye opener!

VERY aggressive! First pass tugged. Second pass was decent but still rough. Third pass was fairly smooth. No nicks but still rough. I'm usually a two passes and done shaver. I've never had good luck with the big SE blades (injectors are hit and miss). I've had better feeling shaves from straight razors.

I'm not giving up on the Autostrop just yet. I have 4 others to work through and hopefully one of them is a smooth runner.

Also, here is the blade.... Only ones I've been able to find, new, for a decent price.

  7. I did not like the carbon blades in my Autostrop. I got the stainless, and they were much better.
  8. Where did you find them?

  9. Thank you. It was the first time I had all my SE razors in one spot. Honestly it was more than I expected!

  10. Those carbon blades are awful. Your razor is a VB2 which is indeed a most aggressive razor. Unfortunately it will not take a de-spined Gem blade so your only options are the Feather blades and NOS Auto-Strop blades. The NOS blades are from an era before stainless steel and even blades that look good may have a deteriorated edge. In addition, you will need a strop for your Valet, as these blades always need a good stropping.

The Feather stainless blades have always worked reasonably well for me in the Auto-Strops, although I only get about 2 good shaves from them. Unfortunately the makers of the OneBlade chose this blade for their razor, and have attempted to corner the US market, so finding some may prove a challenge. You can buy them from OneBlade at a huge markup (like the razor).

At the moment tryablade.com shows them in stock, although they sell blades individually so they are not the cheapest. At least you'd be able to try one.

  11. Thanks for the info. I noticed that with shipping at try a blade, it doubles the cost per blade to almost$2/blade. I don't care about using the Autostrop that much.
  12. My gosh Jim, that Den of yours has exploded! If you use them all you'l only get about two shaves with each!
So many razors, so little time. Looking forward to your reports. Enjoy!

My first shave of SE SEptember and I’m starting with what I believe is a 1912 Gem Junior that I found for $5 a year ago at a local antique shop. I expect to have a week of shaves with it.

    GEM PFTE blade.

    Oh my, talk about feedback!
The jazz band leader had everyone take five while the bass man took over on this one. It's like the individual plucking on the strings - bong, bong, bong - as each whisker is sent into orbit. Yet with a sharp blade it's a smooth experience. With the right angle it is an enjoyable shave and close as well.

It will take time to get the blade angle exactly right in order to perform ATG on my chin, but using an exaggerated “ride the cap” in that area may be the ticket.

I’ll enjoy experimenting with this one. :git:

    Cheers!

  14. Yep. So much for my goal of shrinking the size of my den. It will be a quick month of shaves!
  15. Schick G always gives great BBS shaves with a Personna blade.......... u1.jpg

  16. I love old Injector ads, but there's one thing I really don't understand... they always tout the safety of the injection system in how you don't touch the blade, etc. But the picture in the ad is almost always of a used razor blade flying out of the razor.

I don't get it. Don't you have to pick up the flying razor blade when it lands?
  17. Hmm, good catch. Unless....you inject the used blade into the trash can I suppose, instead of safely putting it in the used blade bank.
  18. I like them too, but hard to find on image searches. Not sure how many more I can use. Always lots of Gillette ads tho.
  19. That's what I do.............
