SEptember 4, 2016 Shave #3 with the 1912 Gem 2-day growth, 3-pass shave (WTG,XTG,ATG) GEM PFTE blade (3) My best shave yet with the 1912 and BBS without a chase! Was it the longer beard growth, requiring me to do a 3-pass instead of the usual 1-pass? Perhaps the slower pace of the shave on this Sunday of a holiday weekend? Is the blade smoothing out? Or maybe I’m just getting the hang of it? I’ve learned to never question a good thing so I won’t. I am really loving the results though. Happy Labor Day weekend gents! (courtesy of the folks that brought you the weekend!) Solidarity! RT
Today's Shave: Sunday September 4, 2016 L' Essor Rasoir CDSF French wedge blade (3rd shave since honing) Fine Angel Hair synthetic brush Stirling Electric Sheep soap Aqua Velva aftershave Modern razors are nice but there is nothing like a French Hoe. I recently got a new CrOx crayon so I applied some to the back side of my old strop and gave the blade about 20 laps on it, followed by 50 laps on my newer plain strop. The CrOx did seem to smooth the edge noticeably and I enjoyed a pretty good shave. --Bob
Mon. 9/5/16 Wonderful shave this morning with the PAL Adj.. Smooth, efficient, zippy. Excellent, creamy, slick lather from the Van Yulay "Jared" shave soap, lovely sophisticated scent. Three passes and I am dolphin smooth and refreshed. Have a great day guys.
Thanks, Doug. We are headed down to SC to celebrate birthdays for youngest grand daughter and her mother.
