1. Waiting for this metal, hand made 'Chubby' by our very own @twhite
The knot in the photo is a TGN 28mm Finest 'Hybrid' knot. Here shown before gluing it in at a 56mm loft.
Tom even sand blasted it to get this satin/matte finish for me.

Super excited about this one :)

  2. I met a great fellow retired Navy Chief that lives pretty close to me, and does a fantastic job restoring old razors. I had a honing session with him a while back, which has helped me hone a bunch of ebay finds. Now that have our wedding paid for I finally had some disposable cash, and contacted him about getting a Wade & Butcher. He said he had a couple 7/8 square points and a few 13/16 Barbers Notches in his awaiting restoration pile. I chose a 7/8 square point, and will be picking it up Saturday morning. Saving PayPal fees for him and Shipping costs. It will give me a chance to see his new belt grinder too. Here is a picture he sent me of it.

  3. I know cartridge razors are not seen as being overly exciting but I was rather thrilled to be able to buy this Wilkinson Kompakt in gold. The kompakt is an absolutely fantastic razor - and, happens to be, designed by the genius Sir Kenneth Grange :)

  4. I ordered a Razorock Plissoft Monster today from Italian Barber. For $10.99 US I couldn't go wrong. However, shipping was as much as the brush.
If anyone out there has one, I'd like to hear your thoughts on them; negative or positive. Thanks.

  9. Waiting for 4 badger knots ordered from a couple different suppliers in China. They're destined for the handles of some "vintage" boar brushes I purchased from a small town antique shop while travelling earlier this summer. Love hitting those out of the way shops .... 4 brushes and 3 gillette safety razors which cleaned up very nicely, all for $35 Ca (about $26 U.S.). Sure beats Ebay prices and shipping costs. Also awaiting the arrival of 3 more Plano tackle/storage units (Amazon) which are partitioned perfectly for the storage brushes and razors.

  11. Ordered the "All in" package from Abbate y la Mantia - 4 5oz soaps with what seems to be unique scents - Saffron, Carrot & Lettuce, Laurel Fragrance and Italian Biscuit.
The soaps are made in cooperation with (or rather, completely by) TFS. The dude behind Abbate y la Mantia owns a saffron farm, so the soap base includes crocus sativus (saffron) extract. Bonus when getting the "All in" deal, is a discount, a sachet of pure saffron and a sachet of saffron flower petals... I wonder what their gimmick is?
Also, a Semogue SOC boar with cherry handle.

  13. I'm interested to know if the performance is like the rest of the TFS line. Saffron used to be wicked expensive.
  14. I can't find a lot of reviews, but I'll drop a line or two about performance when they arrive.
Saffron is still expensive - The most expensive spice in the world, I believe.
I expect the soaps to perform at least just as good as any other TFS product. Speaking of - They have a nice list of soaps 'n croaps so far: TSF Linea Tradizionale, TFS Linea Intenso, TFS Linea Pelli sensibili, TFS Forti Sensazioni, Figaro Monsieur soaps, Barbiere di Figaro soaps, RazoRock La Famiglia line, Abbate y la Mantia soaps, TFS friends and family line, TFS di'Vino, + multiple limited editions... I haven't tried one yet that was quite top shelf material, but they're up there

  18. Picked up this NOS white Kent brush for $20-something w/ free shipping.
Judging by the print on the box I'm assuming it's from the late 1970's making it at about 40 years old or so - so not quite vintage :)
