SEptember 10 SOTD: Stirling Synthetic Brush PdP Ever-Ready 1914 Stirling Unscented PSB Canoe AS Another SE razor, and another great shave. I did manage one weeper on my chin due to a lapse of focus on my part. I still ended with a DFS after two passes and a little clean up on my neck. I am off to work for this day. If I can get myself out of bed early enough tomorrow, I plan to break out an original SE and use one of my wedge SR. I hope everyone has a great day!
Two great pictures and line ups Amigo. The brush looks amazing. Did you install the Silvertip from TGN?
SEteptember Focus Cremo & Vulfix 660S Schick M & Twin blade Alum & Avon Bravo Creme and a badger, adjustable SE with a twin blade, alum and Avon. Happy camper! Getting an early start for a Saturday. No time to type. Out the door!
September 10, 2016 Gem Damaskeene Gem PTFE (3) Simpson CH2 Synthetic Route 66 Perfect Storm Witch Hazel Fine L’Orange Noir Weekend shaves are very relaxing since I have more time to enjoy the process. I am really enjoying the light refreshing scent of Route 66 Perfect Storm. Like all Route 66 soaps it is very easy to lather into a rich slick lather. The post shave feel is top notch. Staying with SE September theme I am spending the weekend with the Gem Damaskeene. While very similar to my 1912, the Damaskeene seems to be a smoother shaver and a touch less efficient. I went with a traditional 3 pass shave trying to pay attention to my trouble spots as I went. Since I had the time and a smooth shaving razor I decided to chase the baby and caught it with very little effort. Certainly an A+ shave. A splash of Fine L'Orange Noir and I am ready for the day. I hope everyone has a fantastic Saturday.
Thank you! Good info to know as I have seen both styles around. Sent from my Galaxy S6 using Tapatalk
This razor is not endanger of getting cut, just need to find out where it sits in the pecking order. Today is a PRC Chimera. This edge has allot shaves on it, it did not feel as smooth or sharp as in the past. Definitely time to a touch up, nothing major. Four passes and one small weeper but the alum test was better than expected just a tickle and BBS was better than expected. Irritation A Closeness A Smoothness A- Sharpness A-
That is what I assume too. I never thought to ask them.... I did not want to learn I was wrong and feel like I got some use from the course I took in mythology.
SOTD September 10, 2016 Blade: Treet Super/GEM Stainless Razor: GEM Micro-matic Open Comb Brush: Vulfix 2006c badger Lather: Mama Bear's Joop Type Post: Witch hazel splash, Speick, Stetson Caliber balm WTG, touch-up I started with a Treet blade and it was terrible! I switched out to a GEM Stainless which felt much better. The GEM MMOC is a great little razor but I find it on the aggressive side. The cap needs to be nearly against your face and I sometimes fail at maintaining that appropriate angle. So I'll end up with tiny nicks and some red spots on my neck generally each time I use this razor. I need some more shaves with it to get it tamed! Have a great evening!
Smells like a Drug Store SEptember!! September 10 Grand Blade Trial - Day Off Razor - Schick Type E Injector Blade - (2) Soap - Proraso Brush - Vie Long 12601 Post - Alum, Styptic, Nivea Original, Clubman Time to play with SEptember again so I grabbed the Type E Injector from last Sunday along with Proraso and the Pony. I've kept the brush out of the Grand Blade Trials just because it's a bit different to work with and I want an absolute consistent lather there. Great lather with the Proraso today and the horse brush is fantastic to feel again. First pass and I was reminded quickly I had a different animal not only in the brush but the razor today. Injectors really get after the shave and after the first pass I had a good thing going. Felt a bit of sting along my jaw line going into the right side of the goatee. Lathered again for the second pass and saw the blood starting as I began the pass. I managed to somehow gain three pretty good nicks on that spot on my chin/jawline. Went ahead and went XTG and just took it easy there, in fact leaving it alone as the blood got worse. Did a quick ATG and some slides on the neck to finish with a very nice DFS. Well, with the bloody patch of course but that's how we roll. Alum burned like a son of a gun on that spot and was a bit hot elsewhere as well. Ended up having to use styptic to stop the bleeding then Nivea to cool things off before reigniting the burn with Clubman. Hey, it's still a great shave and a great way to go into the weekend. Tomorrow is the Type M Adjustable with NOS blades. Can't wait!
That razor is a gateway drug to straights! Just saying.... Do you incorporate skin stretching into your technique?
You're set. If you can catch with a G, straights will simply be a matter of learning the grips and the stroke pattern. It's easy to learn, a bit tricky to master, and more fun than you think!

SEptember 11 SOTD: Stirling Synthetic Brush MDC J Baker Spanish Tip Stirling Unscented PSB Aqua Velva Ice Blue AS I managed a straight razor shave this morning, and I went with this J Baker, which I am trying to decide if I am going to keep or not. Since I am trying to scale back my collection in general, and I have three straights that are locks to keep and another that is highly likely, it will be a difficult competition for the remaining spots. This razor probably didn't quite live up to what I feel the requirements are for those spots. It was a decent shave, as I have a nice CCS. This razor just doesn't quite match the level of some of my other razors. I'll be putting this one on the to go list.
September 11, 2016 Gem Damaskeene Gem PTFE (4) Simpson CH2 Synthetic Route 66 Perfect Storm Witch Hazel Fine Platinum A great shave this morning to end my weekend with the Damaskeene. This razor is a very smooth shaver and a joy to use. The Damaskeene does not seem to be as efficient as my 1912. Also, I do wish it were a little bit heavier. Back to the modern SE razors next week with the B2 Mongoose. I hope everyone has a great Sunday.
