  3. Today's OC
I picked my modified new standard.
It had a cracked barrel, i repaced it in copper to match the platingworn red brass head.
It was made in 28, remade last year. Sort of an industrial look. It almost always delivers a great close shave, and didnt disappoint today. 20161001_100142_resized.jpg
  4. Nice list. Too bad there are only 31 days in the month, you need more.

  7. Day one, the Ikon 101. An odd head in that it has an OC side and a closed bar side. It's also odd that the OC side is less efficient that the closed side IMO. I've got the head mounted on a Phoenix Accoutrements 'Name Taker' handle. Very fat and fairly heavy, but a nice feel overall. And I'm still loving my very own 'Hermey' brush (homemade handle, Maggard synthetic knot) and the Captain's Choice bowl. A hurried DFS is good for the weekend. 20161001_101510.jpg

  9. Dave, what is the silver, knurled handled razor right in the middle?

  10. Herm,
I have two silver plated (single ring and tuckaway) both need shined up.
I think the one your asking about is the Matador Elegante, and no its chrome over ?, but it does shave nicely.

  13. I've been eyeing the captain's choice bowls. Do you warm it up before you shave and does it hold its warmth long enough for 3 passes? How is it making lather in the bowl?

  15. Tabactober + OCtober = TabOCtober?

    October 1 SOTD:
    Razor: Fatip Piccolo
    Blade: Gillete Silver Blue (1)
    Brush: Omega S-Brush Pro S10049
    Lather: Tabac
    AS: 4711

Today's shave was fabulous. I was trying a GSB for the first time and it was my first ever shave with Tabac. I am BBS after three passes, and am feeling great. I am quite pleased with both the soap and the blade. This month is off to a great start.
  16. Some might think that the fact that I use single edge razors exclusively might limit my participation in OCtober.

    Not at all.

Digging through my collection I managed to come up with 27 open comb razors - all single edge. The oldest is an 1887 Kampfe Bros. Star Lather Catcher (lower left) and the newest is a brand new Bunny.

I could have added 4 more, to make it a different razor every day, but they would have been duplicates.

Should be a fun month! :happy088:

  17. I don't specifically heat it up, no. Usually put warm water to soak brush then lather. I find the bowl does make thicker lather than my other bowls. I really like it.
