Andrew I too think they are different levels of aggression in Old Type heads. since I had one that was extremely mild.

The Delta Echo New LC looks great. Did you have one refinished or buy it directly from Delta Echo. I am thinking about having a Gem 1912 redone.

Razor: 20s Thick Cap Ball-End OT
    Blade: Rapira Super Stainless (2)
    Brush: VdH Boar
    Soap: Williams

Not a lot to say about this one; pretty much another effortless shave.

While getting dressed this morning, it occurred to me that my father, if he were alive, would be 98 this year. And here I am, shaving with a razor that would have been new when he was a boy. Heck, he grew up in Brooklyn, NY, home of the Gem 1912 I used on Monday and which also dates from that era. Small world, I guess...

Thank you for responding. I move very slow Charlie so it could be next year before I go forward with refinishing.

    Soap - Proraso Green Tub
    Brush - Omega 10098 Boar
    Ceramic Suribachi Bowl
Blade - Blade - Gillette Silver Blue - Russia
    Razor - 1937 Gillette Sheraton
Aftershave - Fine Accoutrements L'Orange Noir

Another very good shave this morning. The prorasso whipped up a nice bowl of lather and another 2 pass shave WTG & XTG leaving me with a borderline BBS. This is my 4th shave with this blade and it was plenty sharp. I couldn't help myself. I ordered some samples of Terre d'Hermes because I like the L'Orange Noir so much.

This month I am going to focus on trying out some of my untried razors. In honor of OCtober, I took this baby for a test run.
The Vibro-Shaver is a windup vibrating razor. This one has a Gillette Old Type head on it. I loaded a GSB, wound it up and proceeded to shave. I did the first pass in vibro mode and found it a little difficult. The side button has to be pressed with the thumb to keep it running. I found this awkward and gave up half way through the second pass. I finished up holding the handle lower and ended up with a very nice BBS. I really like the Old Type heads.

Got 3 sample spray bottles of it off ebay for $8 shipped. Figured I try it out before buying a whole bottle, but if it smells like L'Orange Noir, it will be on my Christmas list.

I'm going to do a 30 day focus. I'll be using the starter kit I bought just switching out the blades to see what I like. I was previously using Rockwell blades. They were pretty good. I could get a good shave with only a few nicks. Today I switched out for a Gillette 7 O'clock Sharp Edge. Way more nicks on my first shave with this new blade then I got my first wet shave, only the one time I wasn't paying attention was worse. I'll see how it goes tomorrow, if it's like this tomorrow I'll pass on the Gillette 7 O'Clock Sharp Edge.

    Grand Blade Trials

    Razor - 1962 (H1) Gillette Slim (6)
    Blade - [IMG] (3)
    Soap - Arko
Brush - Wolf Whiskers Custom Silvertip
    Post - Alum, The Veg

A very slow start to my morning today. Got up, sat down, went back to sleep, woke up again, had a little coffee, went back to sleep, woke up again and finally headed to the shower. That woke me up enough for a shave but barely. I did nothing, really, on my days off but I feel like I need another 8 hours sleep. Minimum.

Fortunately the Wolf and Arko are foolproof so my grogginess didn't hurt the lather. And, at 6, the blade was a smooth and really effective tool. Three passes to a very nice DFS, near BBS and all is well with the world. The Viking's Sword showed its Personna pedigree with that shave today and I'll give it a fourth run tomorrow to see how it does on 9. Another blade that looks like it works best with a bit of aggression.

Two days from the most momentous day in the history of the universe. And, only 26 from the big party night so here's an idea for a costume from one of our Russian friends near Chernobyl!

Razor: Schick Adjustable injector (set on 3)
    Blade: Chinese Schick
    Brush: Stirling Kong
    Soap: TSD Bourbon Vanilla
Post: Cold water rinse, Alum block, TSD Bourbon Vanilla AS
    20161005_155212-picsay.jpg

Received the Schick adjustable as part of a pass around today so taking a week or so off from using the Cadet OC. I think @Bama Samurai is next with the adjustable so he will doing a detour before long.

First shave with the adjustable injector. It has settings from 1-8 I guess on the dial. Many people talked about 3 being mild so figured I would start there instead of at 1.

First pass WTG on cheeks and XTG on chin and neck as usual. Everything was very smooth. It did not have as much feedback as my Schick G injector but the first pass was excellent with great reduction and no irritation at all. The second pass was ATG everywhere. Another very smooth pass. No irritation. The ATG pass again did not have as much feedback as other razors but it was there. The second pass was also not quite as good because I ended up with a fair amount of touch up to do. Ended at a high DFS, near BBS, because I didn't get my jaw line or Adam's apple perfect. Alum was perfectly quiet.

A great start with this razor probably aided by the fact I ended September using my Schick G1 injector. Tomorrow will give it a go on 5 and compare. Might have to start looking out for this razor to add to my injectors.

Another great shave this morning with the 1914. Everything just worked; the soap, the brush, the blade, the razor, the aftershave...everything. It's been 11 hours since I've shaved and I'm still BBS. I've gotten several compliments on the Blackbeard AS and I can still smell it. Have a great day folks!

    Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (3)
Brush: Elite Razor Tres Amigo Desert Ironwood Beehive w/Envy White
    Soap: Route 66 Twisted Tweed
    Aftershave: Fine Platinum
Amazing shave today with the Timeless Scalloped Cap, Open Comb Base Plate. The TRH2 Pineapple Handle at 100 grams is one of if not my favorite handles. This combination is just fun to use. This shave wasn't a dolphin smooth shave, but an Orca smooth (@Boojum1) shave as it was that powerful. :)
