Here's a few pics of a Wapi I just finished up for a co-worker. This will be his first straight. Scales are Orange Osage, brass spacer and pins. Nothing fancy, but it's dang sharp and shaves nicely.

There's something about the simplicity of those scales which is actually quite pleasing to the eye. :happy088

All the reflections in the blade are quite scary though. Very scary movie-like.

Very beautiful work. I agree that the simplicity of the scales is very pleasing. It's a striking piece for sure.

Dennis again great work. What is your method for shaping your scales they are always so uniform and pinned nicely. I would like to see a tutorial give us a lesson.

Really beautiful work. How did you get your name on the tang? I thought blades were too hard to stamp/engrave.

First, Damon. The slabs of wood are double sided taped, then I use my Delta scroll saw to cut the basic shape. They are then put on a 3" belt sander to true up the scales and then final sanding on another belt sander with 1" or 2" slack belt. Then I sand by hand, feeling the scales to make sure everything is good. I'll have to think about the tutorial bit.

Fritz, I just used one of those vibrating pencil type engravers. Would really like to get my hands on an etching setup.
