    Feather blade (1)
    Kent BK4 brush
    Tabac shave stick
Thayer's Lavender witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, and Fine Platinum aftershave

I began with an extended face prep using plenty of warm water and Stirling Sheep Soap. I think it's a bath soap, but I find it to be very moisturizing and a great pre-shave soap. I went for two passes, but I had enough slick Tabac lather for four. I had a near BBS shave with one pesky weeper over my Adam's Apple. I've been troubled by some small weepers on my neck since I began the 30-day focus. I'll put some extra focus on skin stretching tomorrow to see if I can eliminate them. Small weepers generally don't affect the shave quality, but it bums me out to see them. I finished up with warm water, witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, and Fine Platinum. The AS was relatively quiet, so overall I consider this shave to be a success. I'm still fairly smooth some 9-10 hours later.

My trusty 11-year old Tilley hat (redneck prevention device) sits in the background, and by the way, I prefer the Snark 0.7 mm pick over the Dunlop Ultex Sharp 0.9 mm pick. :git:

My heart, thoughts, and prayers for safety go out to those affected by Hurricane Matthew.

  5. Yes. It has a thin cap. It also has some wear on the top, but it is a good shaver; you just have to ride the cap.

I truly enjoy shaves where everything just clicks. Today was one of those days. This little brush is a pleasure to use. I love the wall of badger feeling and the gentle scritch as I face lather. As always, the Route 66 was very easy to lather. In general I prefer soaps that are very slick and Route 66 fills the bill perfectly. I went with a normal 3 pass shave going WTG, XTG and ATG paying attention to my normal trouble spots as I went. Rubbing a wet hand across my face revealed a super close shave. So with the residual slickness, I chased the baby and caught the little beast. This shave would pass a Drill Sgt's inspection. A splash of Floid Blue and I am ready for a relaxing day with family and friends. I hope everyone has a great Saturday.
  7. Oh, that's a beauty. Yep, stay on that cap and you've got a great ride!

  8. I haven't tried either the LC or New Deluxe, but if you sold those, it probably wouldn't be worth your time to try the SC. I wouldn't think there would be much of a difference. I prefer the weight of the stainless steel because it's easier for me to keep a light touch. I think the ATT and Wolfman are both smoother, but the SC will be probably be my travel razor.

  9. I have a Ikon B1 OC that is supposedly patterned on the New Deluxe. Like you I have found I prefer SS razors and find them to be smoother shavers. The SC will make a great travel razor.

A thank you for the themed contributions. It seems like every time I use a razor that I'd previously wrote off. I'm surprised with outstanding results.

  13. Great setup of fine products Clint. I was going to purchase one of those brushes, but he didn't have the knot I wanted, and he wouldn't ship just a handle. Yours looks great!!!
  14. Thank you Doug. I ordered the brush as soon as he made them available so I was lucky enough to get the 2 band offering. This is the first fan knot made by Vie Long. I really enjoy the little brush.

What a fantastic Sunday morning shave. I adore the slightly medicinal lavender scent of the MdC Original. The soap is very easy to lather. I have found that it is so easy to lather that you can under load the soap. I've found that if I load more product and take the time to add enough water the lather is very slick. Not as slick as Mystic Water but it still has enough residual slickness for touch ups without adding lather. The 3 pass shave with clean ups provided the same BBS results as yesterday. In digging through the cabinet I found some samples of Myrsol Aftershaves. So I finished off with a splash of Aqua Balsamica. The herbal scent pairing with the lavender is a very nice end to an exceptional shave.
  20. NEW SC and LC. Two of the best shavers in my fleet.
