A very good 3 pass shave with this gear. Eufros is an excellent soap.

    Gillette Rubie Blade
    FS Boar Brush
    Hawaiin Sandlewood Soap
    Witch Hazel
Clubman Virgin Island Bay Rum AS

When I first used the Rubie blades, I was only getting OK shaves with them. So I decided to give it another try and see what happens. Well, I was in for a surprise in that I actually got a three pass BBS shave out of it. There was some irritation, but I didn't know for sure how much until I applied the after shave, and then I knew. So it looks like that I will be keeping the rest of the Rubies after all and not give them away.

    Blade: Treet carbon SE (3)

    Cream: TOBS Grapefruit

    Brush: EverReady Souped-Up 100T Badger

    AOS Lemon Aftershave Balm

Continuing to use up some of my summer cream and AS before it gets too cold. Never thought I would like a grapefruit scented cream but this TOBS stuff is great. It’s not like a candy grapefruit scent; more like a real grapefruit scent. It’s also extremely refreshing. This was the last of the AOS balm; it’s nice but a little too thick for me.

The L'OCCITANE Cade Shaving Soap face-lathered well with my Jayaruh Bumble Bee brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Gillette NEW SC razor with a Personna Super blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse and alum block, I finished off with T.N. Dickinson's WH and then Pinaud Vegetal After Shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Well, sometimes you get surprises when you trial blades. Today was one of those days. Sorry I'm late, by the way. Work was much busier and longer than I expected. Not complaining at all, just behind. Thought I'd have time to post this earlier.

So, some surprises are good, some just interesting and some very bad. In my usual world the bad is the normal surprise. Not so today though. The Tomy is a blade I don't think I have ever seen anyone use. I may, of course, have missed it, but it's one I knew nothing of other than it was made in Israel by Personna. Ugly wrapper, plain stainless blade with no printing on the blade. Just blah. At the Slim 2 it provided a nice DFS which was a bit of a surprise. On the Slim 6 I expected something like the Personna Red, maybe Crystal level. What I got was......two passes.........BBS. Now, upon further review at the end of the pass I did find two small touch ups needed. But NOT a third pass. I call that a two pass BBS and that is the first time it's happened with the Israeli blades. This begs a huge question.......the one that has been in the background through all of these blades. Are they the same basic grind/blank etc, just coated differently for different brands? We know that the Personna Platinums and their generic counterparts are clearly the same thing (yeah, I know, based on observation and trial not by Personna). And, I suspect Crystal/Qball are also identical except for wrapper. Highly suspect that. Like twins including the markings. There have been a few oddballs as we've gone, but none of them have failed. Not even close. But for this blah blade to deliver a two pass BBS on the 6 setting.....completely amazed and filled with even more questions.

I'm not sure I'll find answers but that's ok. I'll finish up with it tomorrow on 9 to see if that result holds or if it goes off one direction or the other. And then I'll wrap up the Israeli portion of the Grand Blade Trial with a summary and further discussion. Yes, I have emailed Personna again to try and get any info. Until then I can say that using any of the Israeli blades is better than a lot of other options as far as performance. One more day for the Tomy to prove me wrong.

Today's Russian themed costume is really quite appropriate given the whole Pokemon craze of recent times. Just be careful if you're playing Pokemon Go in the Motherland. They add a level of difficulty to the game over there.

Missed Sunday Shave with a J3, and settled for the the compact I 1 as a follow up to an E2 shave,as of a similar size. A good choice of brush for face lathering with a stick, as it is firm but does not scratch.

A very good shave can be achieved with this Razor, but it requires more effort than the Amazing Schick E2.
