Well, @wristwatchb has made a suggestion that I think most will like. Seems like he's a music fan and found a theme song for the 30 Day crew. We of course, have the "fight song" in honor of the Cartel. But, we don't have a theme song that may define us all as a group. Here's his suggestion. By George, I think he's onto something here!
By the way, you now need your official membership logo.........welcome to the Brotherhood of the Pain Stick!
That, along with the combination of the witness protection program and the statute of limitations. kArt3L4Lif3
Nice work! It may just take a little and practices with the stropping. It's important to keep the mid-stroke pressure more to the spine side of the blade to prevent rolling the bevel. Once you get it down though, good steel can go months in between honing. This seems to be going very well!
8 OCtober 2016 Plan for 9 October too... Fatip Grande Two pass Automatic BBS Machine Have a great Sunday!
I like that And by the way - the Tuxedo IS a terrific latherer. I only used the brush once so far, I'll have to evaluate it a little more ... but I am thinking about buying a second knot, just in case
A belated Happy Birthday to @NCoxSTL , my excuse is I was traveling the globe. The Korean contingent has dispatched some soju along with our best delivery person, Min. Hopefully the full understood my delivery instructions and didn't send the soju back with Ivan(we found him here on vacation. He was going to Vladivostok but got on the wrong plane) If by some chance they got it right please send Min back.
When I have time and want to 'go for it' I will apply some Nivea cold cream before my shower and the Proraso pre shave when I get out of the shower.... since I go for it almost everyday I do this prep for most shaves.
Hello TSD Shave #6 of my October focus: Too lazy to take a picture today - so I'll use this, which has just been awarded to me by @NCoxSTL Similar setup to yesterday's shave, but I changed blade and AS - Reef Point "Dragon's Blood" - The Tuxedo - Feather Artist Club SS - Feather pro guard - Thayer's Witch Hazel - Jeris Musk YESSSSSS - I did it! No cuts, nicks or anything, no blood at all! In fact this was a really comfortable 2-pass-shave (WTG and XTG). Not BBS, but a very nice DFS result. And I did not chase the baby anyways. I found that Feather pro guard blade in my bathroom closet - used it once or twice a few months ago in a borrowed Mongoose and thought it was much too mild then. Now I wanted to give it another try in the Feather Shavette. And it worked MUCH better this time. It's not quite as sharp as the Feather professional, but that MIGHT be a good thing with the pain stick Though I also think because of the slightly reduced sharpness the pro guard is also a tiny bit more tuggy when shaving X/ATG. The Tuxedo brush wipped up another fantastic lather - more than enough for at least 3 passes, so I wasted some This knot, as far as I can tell after only two shaves, is the best synthetic one I have used. I then concentrated on light touch, on keeping the angle between 20 and 30 degrees and on proper skin stretching (something I usually neglect while shaving with a DE or Injector razor). And apparently it paid off. Very pleasant shave - I hope I will be able to repeat this Have a great Sunday! Edit: I forgot to mention - did not shave my upper lip today ... I didn't want to deepen yesterday's cut
October 8, 2016 Razor: Thick Cap Ball-End OT Blade: Rapira Super Stainless (4) Brush: VdH Boar Soap: Williams First, a belated Happy Birthday to @NCoxSTL. Another excellent shave with this combo. There were a couple of moments where it seemed a little rougher than on previous days, though I don't know if this was a blade issue or a minor soap fail. I'm inclined to go with the blade if only because I noticed that most of my bad experiences with this blade have come after the third day. Still, a DFS for the day.
October 9 SOTD: Stirling Synthetic Brush MWF 1941 Gillette Ranger Tech Stirling Unscented PSB Tabac AS Today was another reminder of why I should not turn my alarm off until I am out of bed. I slept in a little bit, so I was running late. I pulled out this Ranger Tech for the first time to get my shave done. It may not have been completely fair circumstances for it to make a first impression, but it did a great job. I did two quick passes and ended with a DFS. I easily could have had a BBS with a little clean up, but I will definitely take this. The worst part of my shave was as I was kissing my wife goodbye. She said she didn't like the Tabac too much as I smelled like her grandfather. I have had this for a while, and I don't wear it too often, but I may have to send it on its way to a new home. It is the first AS she has said she doesn't like. I hope everyone has a great!
October 9, 2016 Wolfman WR-01 OC + Ti with Triad Ti Feather (3) BSB2 with Vie Long 2 Band Fan MdC Original Witch Hazel Myrsol Agua Balsamica Sample What a fantastic Sunday morning shave. I adore the slightly medicinal lavender scent of the MdC Original. The soap is very easy to lather. I have found that it is so easy to lather that you can under load the soap. I've found that if I load more product and take the time to add enough water the lather is very slick. Not as slick as Mystic Water but it still has enough residual slickness for touch ups without adding lather. The 3 pass shave with clean ups provided the same BBS results as yesterday. In digging through the cabinet I found some samples of Myrsol Aftershaves. So I finished off with a splash of Aqua Balsamica. The herbal scent pairing with the lavender is a very nice end to an exceptional shave.
One of my favorite open combs today. It's fun to think this razor was around when the Wright Brothers flew and is still being used today. OCtober SOTD The Body Shop Maca Root Cream B-400 Brush by Tom "Pat Apl'd For" Double Ring Gillette Silver Blue (1) Alum Thayers WH Azzaro Chrome Cologne Have a blessed Sunday!
That one works as well! Although I'm not sure I appreciate calling this a silly place. We're all actually quite serious, stiff upper lip and all that. You believe me, right? I mean, you can trust me......honest......ignore the man behind the curtain. It's just Ivan trying to lead you into Shenanigans.
