Gillette Tech Weber Bulldog Gillette Silver Blue (3) Semogue BC Mistura Soap Commander Love Alum Better shave than yesterday below the jaw line. I am close to where I was with a more aggressive razor. This morning was my first shave with the SC Love soap and the scent is delightful. Very nice shave this morning.
November 3, 2016 Wolfman WR-01 Ti OC with Triad Ti Personna 74 (5) Simpson CH 2 Synthetic Badger Mystic Water Eucalyptus & Spearmint Witch Hazel Fine Platinum Whipped Shea Butter Another fantastic shave this morning. I face lathered the MW Eucalyptus & Spearmint shave stick with a damp brush. I slowly added water as I lathered. I have found that Mystic Water works best when water is added slowly. In short order, I had a mountain of rich slick lather. Sticking with my normal three pass shave and minimal touch ups ended in my normal near BBS. So far the Personna 74 continues to perform well. I finished off the shave with a splash of Fine Platinum. I hope everyone has a great Thursday.
November 3 SOTD: Stirling Synthetic Brush AOS Ocean Kelp SC Schick Hydro-magic Stirling Unscented PSB Brut Classic AS It was a decent shave this morning. I have just a bit of irritation, partly because I chased a bit on my neck, but a but on my chin as well. I did get a DFS+ level of smoothness. I'll give this razor another shave or two, but for some reason the angle does not seem as natural to me with this razor as some other Injectors. I finished with some Brut, which is always a personal favorite. I hope everyone has a great day!
SOTN NOVember 2nd Schick Krona Gillette 7 O'Clock Super Stainless La Toja (Bowl Loaded) Stirling 24mm Synthetic Crown King Scuttle Homemade Tangerine and Tea Tree AS I really don't know why the Schick Krona doesn't get more attention (I'm Guilty of ignoring it as well). It is a fantastic shaver and very intuitive to use. Finding the angle is almost automatic and the slightly longer handle makes it very easy to maneuver around your face. And besides that it just plain looks cool! Three days on the 7 O'C SS and it still feels just as sharp as day one, this blade might give the GSB a run for its money as the leader of the pack for me. have a great day my friends!
Razor: Mongoose B2 Satin w/Timeless Pineapple Design Blade: Feather Pro (4) Brush: Rubberset 400 Unmarked w/Omega Pro 49 Soap: Route 66 Cavendish Aftershave: Folsom Capri
Day 2 for Knize Ten soap and today was the hot scuttle test. The lather held up and performed well but not quite as good as when I use warm water. I started with a Cobra Classic but the first pass felt tuggy and so I decided to bin the blade and loaded my Slim AI shavette. Four passes, a nick, a small cut but the alum gave just a little feedback and finished just short of BBS. In true 30 Day style, except for the blood a decent shave. I was a little rushed today and my technique suffered.
The Krona is a very nice razor. It's mild but with the right blade can deliver a great shave. Another example of Schick always existing in the shadow of Gillette.
Rushing will do that to you but...as you said....it's true 30 Day style when a good shave isn't even ruined by some blood.
NOVember!! November 3 Grand Blade Trial - NOVember Shave Razor - Rabbit Straight Soap - Proraso Green Brush - BoS Omega 10066 Post - Alum, Nivea Strop then shave. Then strop. Yep, it's that routine I'm working on and still seems annoying to me. As I said last night I tried for some strop Zen...focus on the blade, the leather, the motion, the feel. Ok, it helped a bit. And, the motion is getting a bit more smooth so I'm not sweating screwing up the edge as much. That alone may help me get into the rhythm better. Three passes tonight and the first two really were probably enough. I was at a pretty solid DFS after two but decided to do another pass just for practice. No major damage, or minor for that matter, but the alum was pretty hot. Very, as a matter of fact. Nivea calmed it down. The Proraso definitely changed the feel of the shave compared to Tabac and the Fat. Not sure I like it with a straight as I seemed to lose the feel of the setdown a bit. It's the menthol effect. Any more menthol than that and I could see myself getting into trouble. One more night with the Rabbit then Grand Blade Trial on Saturday, Sunday and Monday with the Bic Astor blade. Have a great Friday and start to your weekend! Final weekend before the election and for those of you still unhappy with the selection, remember....the Meadow Party is always an option!
3 November 2016 Shavette Angle Rule Someone ask for a closeup? Got you covered. Simply cut the wrapped blades lengthwise with heavy scissors and enjoy the fine Russian steel shavette style. Of the two shavettes in my inventory, the Magic is better for me than the Leopard, as it is a bit larger and easier to hold in all the different grip positions. @mrchick (Brian), what angle are you trying to hold with the straights? I am discovering through observation that shavettes have a wider sweet spot than SR, but that the pressure required is far less than SR. About today...DFS on two, could have been smoother, but zero irritation today. Alum was good, Veg is heroic! Got to spend some time outside with the pointers before dusk. Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado. Have a Fantastic Friday!
Today I did what I estimated to be two spine widths and got a decent shave. Tomorrow I'm going to tip it away just a bit more. Now I realized that I've never tried a shavette. Ruh roh (I don't classify a Feather AC as a shavette) What do you like about them?
