Very nice ride on the J train this evening. Not sure what I could change to make it better.

    Goodnight, All...

Wonderful shave with the Schick N1 this morning. Excellent lather from the Arko Extra Performance shave cream. This cream smells delightful and is very cushiony and slick. Three passes for a refreshing dolphin smooth finish. Have a great day friends.

    Blade
    : Chinese Schick
    Razor: Schick I1 injector
    Brush: JR #60 synthetic
    Lather: Italian Barber L'Americano
Post: Witch hazel splash, Fine American Blend, Nivea sensitive balm
    WTG, touch-up

Great shave with the Schick I1 this morning. The Jayaruh #60 brush works really well. L'Americano soap is an exact match to the scent of Fine American Blend. I really enjoy that scent. Nice shave overall.

Hope you all have a great day!

Congratulations Roger @Hodge. E1's are practically made of Unobtanium. I lucked out and came across one surprisingly locally since U.S. made injectors are not typically found up here.
It's a great shaving razor with well balanced aggression.

I'm still on the hunt for a type "D" and "F".

    First Shave with the General

I have to say that I am pretty pleased by my first day spent with the General. When you buy a machined razor for $60, you aren't completely sure what you are going to get, but I sure couldn't find any flaws with this razor. The machining is excellent, and the black finish is somewhat glossy. I was pleased to find that the handle threaded on and off very smoothly. From photos I had seen, I wasn't completely in love with the cannon barrel handle, but when I got it into the den, it just looked like it belonged.

It is a pretty good looking razor all in all, with a rounded top and flat base plate. It isn't going to win any beauty contests with it's machined competition, but there is a certain appeal to its simplicity.

The razor is light. Head and handle weighed in at 44.7 grams, which is around 5 more than RazoRock's Hawk, but 5 less than the head alone of my Mongoose B3. People who prefer some heft when they shave are going to need to add a different handle.

The blade sits on two very small pins that reminded me of ATT. When in place, the blade (Feather Pro) sat securely with no room to wiggle.

(Sorry about the photography, that black color, in my lighting is very difficult to photograph.)

The two pieces thread together very easily, with no fiddling around to get good alignment.

Now the important part: How does it shave? The General has a fair amount of blade feel, but is a pretty gentle razor. It reminded me of a G or E type; comfortable to use, but you can tell you are getting something done. As light as this razor is, I assumed I would be adding a little heftier handle after this shave, but it performed like it was much heavier than it is. I was able to get a hockey rink smooth shave in my three passes without using any pressure or extra buffing strokes. The head, the way it is shaped, didn't seem to have an angle that just jumped out at me. I found myself having to find the proper angle every time I changed direction/grip. It wasn't difficult by any means, and can be attributed to it being my first use, but it seemed to like a little bit steeper angle than a "ride the cap" approach. The handle, despite it's lack of knurling or texture is easy to grip, and felt natural by the end of the shave.

All in all, I am pretty enthusiastic about this razor. When you consider that not too long ago, The Cobra and The Mongoose were your only options for a safety razor using this kind of blade, it is a pretty exciting time for SE shaving.

For people who are interested in getting one of these, Colonial is having a Black Friday sale, where the pre-order price (black only) is going to be 25% off.

TL/DR: Awesome shave with the General tonight!

Newly acquired Claymore from fellow Shaver. Boy it is heavy, for the first shave was being careful but quite amazed at how smooth it was during the shave. Despite the size I was able to shave all areas with ease, and am pleased with the Shave Quality.
