NOVember!! November 22 Grand Blade Trial - NOVember shave Razor - CJB Greager Blade - (1) Soap - Mitchell's Wool Fat Brush - Wolf Whiskers Custom Silvertip Post - Alum Time for another four days of NOVember. Well, ok, so I varied these days but, overall, tried to stay with a straight theme. Today I return to the scene of last week's near massacre at the hands of the Feather SS, only this time I'm wielding its Korean cousin, the CJB Greager. I'm using a Dorco AC blade again since last week's shave failed miserably, and the other major difference.......I'm wearing a T-shirt as well as having an extra cloth nearby to keep hands dry. I'm getting certain looks from SWMBO for having this razor out and ready to use and I have wondered if she would grab it and finish me before I even had a chance! Started with a head shave with the Merkur 23c/Astra/VDH Deluxe soap and it was great as always. Whipped up an amazing Fat lather and it was as slick as last week. Started on the right side and had no issues with the first pass on that side. Went for the handoff to my left hand and made sure my hand was dry and free of lather. Also, the square handle seems to give a bit of extra grip. That pass was perfect as well. No issues, no falling razors, nothing being sliced. Two more passes with the Greager landed me a fine DFS. A few areas wouldn't go more due to my lack of perfect technique but I"ll take it. It's been awhile since I've used a pain stick for a full shave and I'm more than happy with it. Short day at work tomorrow as we are closing a bit early. Today was a busy and expensive day with a lawyer visit, shopping, all the fun things that make life what it is. We will be home for the holiday on Thursday except for when we find an open Chinese restaurant to eat at. Kind of our tradition for Thanksgiving and Yule. Hope all is well where you are and for those of you getting snow - I can't say I'm jealous. Have a great night and a better tomorrow!
NOVember Focus holding...kind of. Arko and Omega Pro98 brush Weck Bantam & Personna blade Fatip/Muhle hybrid/ Ladas SS Alum and Osage Rub AS (Travel photo = Atlanta Skyline) Let my granddaughter choose my shave setup. She saw the shavette and asked why I don't use it. So I took it for it's first spin around my face. But heeding my own advice, I only used it on my cheeks. Finished up rest of the WTG pass with the OC DE, followed by completing the shave with my months Focus. No blood, DFS, and a cool aftershave finish. Then my son asked if I'd give him a haircut and a shave. Why of course! Whal clippers and 1/4" comb for a tight & tight, hold the high. Trimmed his beard off using the clippers sans comb. Then treated him to; Gingers Garden Acqua di Florida tallow B-400 Tuxedo brush Schick Golden 500 & Chick blade Alum block and Florida Water AS I build his face later on him and took the first couple swipes WTG to illustrate angle. He took over and completed his XTG & ATG passes. I know the alum was hot, he said broken glass. When asked if he'd do it again, he said not sure about the alum block. But the razor is now his. When I return home I'll gather up a brush and soap sampler to include with some more Chick blades. Good shaves Y'all!
22 November 2016 I think this shavette thing is a go. Two passes over Arko, one Alum pass and a heroic finish left me feeling much better. This after a Monday that could've been an easier day. It's finally vacation time out on the prairie. General announcement to the brethren who gather here: Thank you for being such a dynamic part of the the little place we call TSD. My day is brightened daily by the words on these pages, and remind me each day that I must always try again tomorrow. I appreciate that. Have a nice evening and a good Wednesday! ☺
I second your announcement and am proud to be a part of a community like this. Something to be thankful for in another couple of days when people ask.
Gillette Flat Bottom Tech Bulldog Handle Perma-Sharp Super Semogue BC Mistura CTAPT Shave Cream Alum Superior 70 I have come to the conclusion that I notice more of a difference switching blades than from the different iterations of the Tech. Today, I was good after 1 pass, but with the brush loaded, I did a second pass resulting in another nice comfortable near bbs shave.
