Nov 24: Old tub of TOBS Avocado croap Old nameless drugstore fake badger boar brush, Rockwell 6s on plate #3 Rockwell blade (9) Alum, cold water rinse, Thayers Witch Hazel The lather in my bowl turned out very well today - a nice thick "painting" consistency that provided good protection. Using one soap and one brush for the month has really helped me learn to make a proper lather. My old ones usually were too thin and runny and had dried to uselessness within half a pass. They now protect through an entire pass and what remains on the brush / bowl doesn't have to be re-whipped before the next pass. Shaved a 2 1/2 day stubble today. (I work from home so I can be more casual about my appearance than when I was suit-and-tie at an office.) the Rockwell on #3 handled it with my normal two criss-cross diagonal passes. Alum totally quiet; used the Thayers just because I usually do and think it helps keep my skin clearer than it used to be. Rockwell blade still doing fine after nine shaves. Not tuggy or skipping at all so no need to change it out yet.
I always like seeing the old Gem's show up on here. There's just something about thinking of an era when those were modern amazing shaving machines that I like. Happy Thanksgiving!
NOVember!! November 24 Grand Blade Trial - NOVember shave Razor - CJB Greager Blade - (2) Soap - Proraso Green Brush - Omega Pro 48 Post - Alum Happy Turkey Day! I trust you all enjoyed some time with friends and/or family, ate way too much, maybe watched a little football and, overall, enjoyed the day. For those of you in other places around the world.....hopefully some of our holiday mood rubbed off and made your day a bit better. Now, it's on to "black Friday", a term I really despise but suffer through as the shopping season begins. I have an early start tomorrow and a late finish so tonight's shave is the prep for all of that. The Greager is back on the menu tonight with the Dorco AC blade. I chose Proraso and the Pro 48 just because. This was my original setup. Well, I used a Tweezerman before getting the Omega, but I consider this my first "real" setup. Other than the razor of course. Wouldn't have dared with a pain stick back then. Great lather and very slick and wet which I wanted it to be. Three passes with the pain stick and the finish is a very near BBS and it's comfortable and nice. Everytime I work the pain sticks for a few days I get the bug that I could put my DE's down and shave everyday with the sticks. Maybe someday. No complaints or problems and I'm ready to go for tomorrow. We had our traditional dinner today - meaning we went to a buffet and let the pros do the cooking and just ate as much as we could. Well worth every penny. If you're shopping tomorrow don't forget a new bed! And you know, you can always call me to help you with that.....we do deliver anywhere in the U.S.!
NOVember Slipping to the Dark Side Arko & B-400 Tux brush Weck Bantam & Personna blade Alum & New Old Spice AS Wet lather provided plenty of slick for a full two passes, but I'm rusty at the straight style shavette. I saw blood through the lather, did clean up with Fatip/Muhle for a overall nice finish. Call it DFS+ in the easy plains, but only SAS where I'm technique deficient. Alum sparkles where I dipped the tip. I'm glad for the muted corners of a Personna blade over a 1/2 DE shavette. Happy Turkey Day and Good Shaves Y'all!
I'm glad you're OK, Neal. I'm glad to know that I'm not the only guy that talks to myself during a shave. Next time you use the Pain Stick, try some Alum on your fingers holding the razor handle. That really helps me with the grip.
It's a good thing his Bride was on standby with quicker picker upper paper towels. Thankfully, the tourniquets were not needed this time.

Everything just clicked and all the hardware and software worked well together. Just enjoying a relaxing day at home. I hope everyone has a great Friday.

Razor: Gillette President Y 1 Blade: Feather Platinum (6) Brush: Elite Razor Tres Amigos Desert Ironwood Beehive w/Sunrise Synthetic Soap: Route 66 Frozen Cranberry Citrus Aftershave: Myrsol Aqua Balsamica Outstanding 3 pass shave tonight. The Sunrise Synthetic is a great knot which was installed by @clint64. He had to talk me into getting this knot am I very happy he did. The brush whipped up an excellent lather and the Gillette President mowed down the stubble. Today I had a BBS for sure. My wife pulled out an old cigar box that belonged to her grandmother, and because it wasn't a very nice day out I decided to use it in my picture.
NOVember!! November 25 Grand Blade Trial - NOVember shave Razor - CJB Greager Blade - (3) Soap - Proraso Red Brush - Semogue 620 Post - Alum Well another Black Friday is in the books. 12 1/2 hours of fun and frolic on the sales floor and a BUNCH of stuff sold. I'll take it.....but I'm glad it's done. Tomorrow should repeat today with a bit less frenzy and it's another early start. So.....home, eat, shave and probably pass out at my desk. Final night for the Greager andDorco blade and, in spite of my being a bit bleary from the long day everything went well. I finished two passes and figured enough. Just didn't care to do another. I had a DFS secured and decided not to push it. When you get tired and try to do too much blood is sure to follow. The Proraso Red Sandalwood performed extremely well. I'm liking that soap and can't figure out why it took nearly two years to try it when I used the Green almost from day one. My loss. Tomorrow - The Grand Blade Trials return with the Bolzano Superinox blade. The next three days should be pretty nice. Alum tonight was a little hot, not bad, and I'm glad to have spent a few days with the pain stick. Hope you had a great day and enjoy your weekend!

Day 4 and wrap up for Crown and Crane veggie edition. I broke out the big Omega Pro for the final day and today's weapon of choice is a Drew Dick 6/8 with a smile. The big boar seemed to agree with the C&C and I go the lather just consistency I prefer for SR. This is one loud razor and it glided across my face. I am starting to like the smiling blade on my neck.... hmmm that did not come out right. Everything was falling into place plus I had 30 hours since my last shave so it felt like I was on track for an epic shave. I was little worried about irritation because this blade is sharper than normal and I went very aggressive. Alum test.... nothing. Faceturbating a couple hours later, oh yeah and epic shave. Irritation A+ Closeness A+ Smoothness A Sharpness A+ I am off to Macau tomorrow with some friends so I may need to skip the focus for a few days.
November 26, 2016 Wolfman WR-01 Ti OC with Hempel Ti Feather CH2 Synthetic Jade LE “Tres Amigos Dos” Route 66 Twisted Tweed Witch Hazel Floid Blue A very nice relaxing shave this morning. The Twisted Tweed provided a great rich slick lather. I enjoy the scent and find it dissipates about the time the shave is complete which I find nice. Sticking with my normal 3 pass shave with minimal touch ups ended in a near perfect BBS. Using this razor consistently for the month has really helped me us it to its full potential. I finished off the shave with a splash of Floid Blue and now I am ready for a relaxing day of college football. I hope everyone has a great Saturday.
So, I am checking out this group at the suggestion of @wristwatchb. I am a newbie and he said this would be a great place to get feedback and tips. My first questions is "Where are you guys getting the Route 66 shaving soaps?" I am in Canada so I have not yet explored to many options for sourcing products. What are your favourite Route 66 scents? I know that is a subjective question but I just wanted some feedback as to which one I should try first. I have had a long time fascination with Route 66 and have had the opportunity to travel on a few of the older sections in Missouri and Illinois but my dream is to travel Route 66 in Arizona in a convertible. When will the December Rule/Focus be posted? There is very little time left in November but I can tell you that I have been using the same setup all month because sticking with the same setup for the first 30 days was a recommendation that I read about for newbies. Welcome aboard. Route 66 soaps are available at http://www.retroshaveshop.com/ Be sure to check out the first post in this thread for the TSD discount code. http://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/new-in-november-route-66-shave-soaps.53460/ Of the 5 scents I have tried my 2 favorites would be Frozen Margarita and Lumberjack. I will ask our resident Route 66 expert and fellow Canadian @Douglas Carey to fill you in on ordering and shipping to Canada.
I would go with either Frozen Margarita or Bourbon Jungle to start with if you like these scents. I have all the Route 66 Soaps and I don't believe you can go wrong with any of them.
