Nov. 29/2016 Tues. Razor: Gillette Atra H - 2 Blade: Personna Cartridge (1) Lather: Hibco Nag Champa Pre Shave Oil AS: Aqua Velva Musk/ Hibco Nag Champa Butter Balm Newspaper Date: Feb. 3,1944 Something a little different this morning. With yesterday`s shave, there were too many small "bites", I needed some way to see my skin as I was shaving, so I used the pre shave as a lather. Seems to have worked pretty good, as I have a BBS shave. With just pre oil, the different "passes" were non existent, except for adding water when needed. This method needs more scrutiny. I still like whipping up a good lather, I may be sitting on the horns of a dilemma. With a sharp blade one doesn`t realize all the small "nips" until much later. I could sure feel the many small irritations by early afternoon. Good luck to all the other members with a fine shave. Bill
Tuesday Prep: Warm Shower-Stirling Bath Soap-Scots Pine Sheep Soap: Stirling Margaritas in the Arctic Razor: Gillette Pre-War Fat Handle Tech (Triangle Slots) Blade: Gillette 7 O’Clock Green Super Stainless (1) Brush: John’s Brushes Silvertip-22mmx48mm Aftershave: Stirling Executive Man w/Menthol WTG-XTG-ATG (adjusted angles for my beard) Stirling MITA today. 20 seconds to load the JB Silvertip. Easy, thick, slick, lather. I loaded a new Gillette 7 O’Clock Green SS in the FH Tech. Excellent smooth, close, shave. I finished with Stirling Executive Man w/Menthol aftershave. Bob
First go with El Jefe/Schick Proline was mixed. Wonderfully close on the beard with no drama. But the heavy brass handle (and perhaps the alignment) made for a less than pleasurable head shave. I never like heavy handles for the head so I can't blame El Jefe for that. Lighter handle next time.
Just shaved - continuing through my sample pack. This morning I used the Shark Super Stainless. These seem to get mixed reviews from folks. Just based on today's shave with my Merkur 34c, Vie Long horse hair brush and Cella soap - they were ok. It was a decent, comfortable shave and fairly smooth. However the blade doesn't seem to be very sharp. Took some repeated clean up on a couple trouble areas on my neck. Clean up that I didn't have to do when I used the Astra SP, Lord Platinum or even the Dorco ST 301 blades. I will rate these blades in middle of the pack. My sample pack also includes the Shark Super Chrome. A future shave will determine their status. Finished the shave off with a splash of Fine Platinum. Just got a bottle in the mail yesterday. Very nice scent.

I`m interested in the 34c. Wondering how aggressive it is. I bought a two piece razor primarily to use 1/2 blades, just give the knob a small turn to open the head enough to slip the blade in, ala rocnel. But it is too aggressive for me. I cut one side off. That didn`t help, but it is still usable as long as I`m careful. With regards, Bill
SOTD: "Going Green" today…vintage Solingen-made Otto Deutsch 'Hans' 5/8," Stirling 'Orange Chill' mentholated tallow soap, custom 28mm boar, and Stirling's 'Executive Man' post-shave balm. Always a great shave using this lovely, yet fragile, 3-pin razor.
Fabulous SOTD!! Weber PH w/RazoRock bamboo Personna blades Soap Commander Respect RazoRock brush RazoRock wax (balm) Folsom & Co Capri I don't use Soap Commander as much as I should, bit they make a quality product. I really like the Weber PH head, nice efficient shaver. The RazoRock bamboo handle is super! Great buy at $12. Big brush from RR that holds a lot of lather, nice and soft tips. F&C Capri is so darn nice! Sad it's no longer available. Go out and get it
Gillette Slim (L2) Razor Personna Israeli SS Blade Frank Shaving Boar Brush Arko Shave Stick Dickinson's Witch Hazel Pinaud Lilac Vegetal The Arko shave stick and Lilac Vegetal I received from @Bama Samurai to try and I used them today. My first time using a shave stick, and for me, it was an enjoyable experience. First I applied it on my wet face, then using the brush, kept it wet until it developed a nice thick lather. What soap that was left on the brush, after the first pass, was enough for the following two passes by adding a bit of water to the brush every so often. The lather, besides being thick, was pretty slick and provided me with a great BBS shave. Now on to the Lilac Vegetal. While someone in my household said pretty much "Eh" to it's scent, I rather like it. Whether it's a combination of soap and Veg, or just the Veg alone, my skin is feeling pretty smooth without any dryness. Would I buy it, yes I would. Would it bother me if someone else doesn't care for it, not a damn bit.
Razor: Gillette Adjustable Fat Boy Blade: Astra Superior Platinum (3) Brush: Los Tres Amigos Dos Simpson Chubby 2 Synthetic Soap: Route 66 Bay Lime Twist Aftershave: Booster Iced Lime Early 3 pass shave as I'm off to a meeting shortly. A very close comfortable shave with the slightest of clean ups around my chin. The new Route 66 Bay Lime Twist is a delightful synergy of pure East Indian Bay brightened with a generous twist of lime, mingled with ginger and supporting notes of lemon, lily, and grapefruit. The soap is as slick and protective as are all Route 66 soaps.
No pictures for Wednesday's shave - sorry about that: Neutrogena Men Facial Wash Razorock Plissoft 26mm Monster Super Speed/Derby day 3 Ingram Extra Cool S/C Lucky Tiger A/S Cream Mennen Skin Bracer A/S Splash A really chilly shave coming up - this Ingram Extra Cool cream is from Egypt and it has the same great scent and lather as the original UK and Egyptian versions, but the menthol effect is more intense. You can't go wrong with the Lucky Tiger a/s cream or the Skin Bracer!
