December 1
I was running late this morning. I have a pile of razors, and I can use any of them in my Decadent December focus.
Danger is my middle name, so I went for the Pain Stick! I had a nice, easy, although hurried, first pass. I decided to do some touch-ups around my mouth and chin before rushing out the door. On a right-to-left stroke across my upper lip, I felt the blade dig in. I've heard this phenomenon described as a
rough landing. I'm tempted to call it
stupidity. I moved the razor away from my face and just waited for the flow of red. And there it was!
When all was said and done, I had a nice pile of red-spotted tissue paper, and I used my styptic pencil for the first time in months! It worked like a champ, and I am forever indebted to styptic pencil makers everywhere. The Alum just wasn't enough this morning. My Bride was asleep, so she couldn't provide a roll of paper towels as good wives are known to do during times like these.
I kept painting my upper lip with the styptic until the bleeding stopped, and I left the house with a white upper lip. I hurried past everyone when I got to work and went straight to the bathroom to inspect the damage and splash water on my face. All is good now. It was actually just a small cut, but my lip tends to bleed a lot. I'll try the Pain Stick again tomorrow, albeit at a more leisurely pace.
I'm glad to get my bad shave out of the way so early in the month. I hope you got up early enough to enjoy a nice, easy shave.
