I don’t know why I don’t do this more often, which is mixing Cryogen with Amici. It makes for a wonderfully slick, creamy, chilled citrus shaving experience yielding a BBS and marvelous facefeel and fragrance.



Pre-shave: Nope
Razor: 1961 Gillette 195 Adjustable "Fat Boy” (WTG = 5, XTG = 5 & ATG = 3)
Blade: Ladas (1)
Brush: Patriotic, Bi-centennial handle with a 24mm TGN Finest knot
Soap: Chiseled Face Groomatorium’s Cryogen followed by Italian Barber’s Amici
Water: Cold
Alum Block: Yes, with no wincing.
Post Shave: Thayer's Witch Hazel with Aloe
Aftershave Balm: Nope
Aftershave: Chiseled Face Groomatorium’s Cryogen followed by Italian Barber’s Amici
Fragrance: Invictus

 

One of my favorite razor/blade combinations.

 

Agreed, it is just so easy to shave with and the results are great.

First chance to try my newest addition, the Magic Shavette, courtesy of @Bama Samurai . He swears by these things and it's not the bad kind of swearing either! So, let's see what it has to offer besides the potential for blood.

I wasn't really very nervous going in. Having mastered the pain stick (yeah, I know I said mastered - that's a guaranteed slice and dice festival next time I pick up the pain stick) and using straights I figured I had this well in hand. The difference is just in weight and the fact it's half of a DE blade. The Derby, though, should be pretty easy to work with. It's a smooth blade and not the sharpest but that's a good training blade. I chose Arko to guarantee lots of slick lather with the Semogue.

On the first stroke I knew I liked it. Honestly, if you've used straights, using this is just a small adjustment. The smaller thinner blade is definitely a bit more hazardous, but it's still a DE blade, just without a guard leading the way. Get the angle right and work it and it really mows down your beard. Nice first pass and I did a second pass just to work on going XTG and ended with a barely DFS, but that's all I was after. Another pass and some extra focus on a few areas and I could have easily been near BBS.

All in all, I'd have to say this is a good addition to my den. I even see potential for head shaves with this. Fun shave and finishing totally blood free and with the alum just barely hot......makes it a DECADENT day in the den!

Wonderful shave with the PAL Injecto-Matic this morning. Excellent lather from the Arko shave stick. Three refreshing passes for a dolphin smooth finish. Have a great day friends.

Terrific Tabacstag
I missed a pass and I liked it. I absentmindedly went ATG on my neck for the first pass, and I realized that was all I needed there. I still made my usual three on my cheeks, and got a superb shave. Tabac never fails to provide easy, thick, and slick lather. Face lathering was very comfortable with my Bronze Shadow. I finished with B-M Reserve Spice and Tabac AS for a great start to my day. I hope you have one too.

The WDC/Druida whipped up the Nuavia Rossa into a rich lather very easily. The knot has the great backbone and scrub with very good flow through. I stayed with my 2 pass routine, XTG & ATG, followed by touch ups in my trouble spots. I was so close that I decided to chase the baby and get that one spot on my neck. I caught the little guy finishing with a BBS. I hope everyone has a great Tuesday.
