I am definitely in!!! Been wanting a straight forever. Thanks for the chance. =) Straights are cool to me because they represent an "old way". They're not only functional; but they're beautiful in a way. Plus, I've always wanted one for my bush kit. It just seems the natural (and most practical) way to shave when you're out packing through the woods. Sadly; I have been gone (visiting a friend in Alaska to help him prep for winter); with no internet and therefore unable to post regularly or even get online much at all. I have never owned a straight before though.
I'm in. I drive by the old Geneva Cutlery plant every weekend. I live in Rochester, NY and have visited the sites of many of the great NY razor producers: Genco, Robeson, Case, Cattaraugus, Korn, Ontario, Camillus,Union and Kinfolks. Ontario is going strong in their 127th year. The rest are all long gone. I only wish I could have visited them back in the day. There's no steel like vintage NY steel. Thank You !
I'm in. I've started to really enjoy straight shaving. It's my quiet time in the morning. I've waffled about joining in this offer, but would really like to try a Genco. It will stay in the TSD family and if I win it, I will PIF something else to the Den to keep things rolling. Thank you.
I'm in, straight razors are cool because they are forever. As long as you keep the edge good you'll have it and your kids will have it etc. I already own one straight. I don't post in the 30 day thread. I believe that gives me 2 tickets.
Forgot to add why I think SR's are cool. Shaving isn't a chore any more. It's "my time". A chance to relax and block out everything that's going on in my/the world. I don't work through problems or plan my day...I spend the time in the moment and only there; just my strop, razor, brush, soap, and scuttle. At least it's that way for me. Cheers, Jer
I'm in - awesome PIF - wish I'd seen the listing when it was up for sale. Straights are cool because it's a mutual thing. You respect the blade and the blade will respect you. Then there is that whole mastery thing going on as well.
I think yours is in better shape than mine. It has more of the bluing on the tang intact, and never had bolsters, so there isn't a missing one.
Super generous of you. I'm in please I promise not to sell the razor, and if I do not like it. It will be PIF'd here. I have just recently started straights. They are cool because you hold your life in your hands each time you shave.
Very generous PIF. I hate to do this, but, I'm in. It's just too nice looking, and I need a pretty razor in my collection. I do not sell my razors, and if it doesn't work out, I will continue to PIF it.
I am in. Straight razors are cool because they are "green" and are a heritage item that can be passed down through several generations. Not to mention, they make the user much cooler then the average Joe!
