I will throw my hat into the ring.
I really like the looks of the Delta echo razors DE and the charcoal goods DE.

For sheer fat handled vintageness with an interesting guard bar, the Stahly.
    It shaves well, too.

Too many razors on the market that look good, too many. Yesterday I received the Supply Provision 3 plates first shave and was very good. The razor is not even fully machined, its a mix of mold + machining and yet the razor looks so appealing. Don't get sucked into the looks department or you will lose your wallet big time.

You'd have to clarify "some" but for example the PAL Adjustable range is $15-$40 looking at completed ebay transactions.

or a Wolfman Titanium can go up to $500 bucks.... That's why I said there are many good looking modern and vintage razors that shave so good and look good and still are not too expensive like some others. He should not get suckered into spending lots of money chasing the looks

Fortune or chance. Most are available on ebay. My price has been spending time visiting antique and thrift stores, or obscure auction sites. "In the wild" finding someones long forgotten vintage razor yields crusty old razors that can be cleaned up. Sometime I get a stinker that's not usable, but in hand I can check the moveable bits. The rest is toothbrush and Dawn dish liquid scrubbing.
