I think you'll like the B2. Mine looses the occasional hair every now and then but within 10 uses it was soft and pleasure to use. The chrome handle with the taller loft I really don't care for since it is to floppy. Plus the hair just looks wild. My wife calls it my Homer Simpson brush. I really like your idea of changing out the knot. I really like the chrome handle so I will look into that after the holidays
Wednesday Prep: Warm Shower-Stirling Bath Soap-Gentleman Soap: Route 66 Lavender Woods Razor: Gillette Fat Boy Blade: Gillette 7 O’Clock Blue Super Platinum (4) Brush: HFD/TGN Premium Silvertip-24mmx50mm Aftershave: Anucci Sport EdT WTG-XTG-ATG (adjusted angles for my beard) Route 66 Lavender Woods today. 20 seconds to load the HFD Silvertip. Easy, thick, slick, lather. Gillette 7 O’Clock Blue SP still in the Fat Boy. Excellent smooth, close shave. I finished with Anucci Sport EdT. This was my first go with the Route 66 Lavender Woods: Excellent easy lather as expected from Route 66. The scent is very similar to LASS’ Woody Lavender (no surprise). Thanks Santa! Bob
Gillette Black Tip Super Speed (X2) Personna Lab Blue Blade Frank Shaving Boar Brush WSP Fougere Noir Soap Dickinson's Witch Hazel Aqua Velva Musk After Shave After taking a day off from shaving, I was going to use a more aggressive razor, but decided on this Black Tip. It still did the job producing a very nice BBS shave after three passes.
1969 Black Beauty - Kai. Was looking at the inventory for something different and ran across this old gal. Haven't used for along time and forgot was a nice shave she gives. No pressure needed (as you all know) quite top heavy so she does all the work.
An early post for a bitterly-cold Thursday shave: Razorock Plissoft 26mm Monster Super Speed/Astra day 4 Mickey Lee Paradise Frost S/S Italian Barber Amici A/S Splash Havana EdT Although this Paradise Frost soap is far from being a face-freezer it's still wonderful stuff. A gorgeous scent with great lather, and just enough menthol to be felt. It's also very skin-friendly and moisturizing. The Amici aftershave's scent is also so nice and pairs very well with my Havana eau de toilette. It gives a mild cooling sensation as well, and it's very soothing.
One of my best shaves today. Super close and minimal alum noise. This was the straight that gave me my first satisfying shave and it always performs. Your wife has a great sense of humor. Changing the knot after the holidays might be a good idea. I have a few brushes that over time I have been disappointed with the knots. I am planning to change knots in the new year.
A very good looking Milord and brush Joseph. I always thought that Opera Singers where rolling in the dollars.
Dec 14: New blade again - Feather. Merkur 34c, SOC boar brush, Captain's Choice North soap, Neutrogena Post Shave lotion, and good old Barbasol. For all the hype - the Feather is sharp - one small nick on the chin but I still have both ears, lips and nose. Other than the one nick, a close shave and no irritation. Due to the sharpness there was little need for much clean up. However, I would not rate this blade as high as many reviews seem to. There are other blades that give me just as close a shave with more smoothness. I'll put the Feather in with my other top rated blades for further evaluation once I have finished the rest of the sample pack. First time for the Captain's Choice North soap. Very clean refreshing scent. Goes well with a rather cold northwest morning. The lather was exceptional.
Her comments were truly brutal. Something along the lines of "when and where did you get that ugly a** brush. The wild looking hair looks like Homer Simpson on a bad hair day" Then she questioned my sanity and good judgement on buying the brush. One of those days I just couldn't win.
