It's that time of year, soooo show off that Natural or Artificial symbol of the season. I'll start: There is no topper yet, because my oldest isn't home yet to place it. Sort of a family tradition. Last year he was deployed to Korea with his regiment(1-5 Cavalry, Loyalty and Courage!). This year he'll be home to do the honors. My youngest will also be home from college, so the nest is full again!!
Just noticed your son is with the 1-5 Cav. I assume he was part of the ongoing brigade level rotations to Korea. Tell him to stay safe and watch out for his comrades. I spent a tour in Korea quite a few years ago. Didn't leave anything there I need to go back for. But as a young 20 something year old it was exciting. HOOAH!
He had a good time in Korea. This is the first time he's been home for Christmas in two years. I don't know who's happier him, my wife or his dog who we've been watching since he commissioned.
I'm going for something less traditional this year. (Now, if I could just get them to hold still....)
My wife and kids would go to a tree farm every year, pick out the tree and I would cut it down. It was a family tradition, with lots of great memories! With my son now moved out and my daughter in her final year of college, we bought a plastic tree this year. It's not quite the same, but it does look nice.
Nothing fancy but I had to move a bunch of furniture around because the tree HAD to go in front of the window.
