My Schick type O loaded with a Chick blade provided a better shave than the Schick twin blades I've been using in it since getting the razor. A Classic example of YMMV I guess.

    Arrived yesterday- Shave today.

Loading blade V. easy, but needs a nudge towards exit stop. Not wholly sure blade rests on that stop. Decided to go ahead anyway
using No2 plate. Shave V Smooth, and had to work hard to get a close finish - which was good on cheeks, chin but due to unfamiliarity not so good on the neck. Will do a few more shaves on this plate before changing.

    Blade
    : Chinese Schick
    Straight Razor: Cattaraugus Cobalt
    Rescue Razor: Schick I1 injector
    Brush: JR #60 synthetic
    Lather: Fine Platinum
Post: Witch hazel splash, Fine Platinum aftershave, Nivea sensitive balm
    WTG, touch-up

Straight razor shave #4. I almost completed a full pass. I got about 1/3 of neck done before quitting. Shaving your neck with a straight is really scary. But, I've made some good progress since the first attempt. Great lather and scent from the Fine Platinum soap. I lathered one side at a time to avoid it drying when shaving with the straight. No cuts or nicks or weepers, but some irritation on my neck, which is understandable. The I1 injector cleaned up the other areas in fine fashion.

The witch hazel and Fine aftershave lit me up pretty well, so I need to watch technique and try to learn from that. But a nice, enjoyable shave nonetheless.

A big thank you to my TSD Secret Santa for making this shave possible.

    Have a great day!

    Hi guys
I took a break tonight from my straight focus. I have yearning for a SE shave.

So I broke out my Clauss SE. This was patented in 1905. It is a TTO, it predates even the GEM by a good 20 years.

It was designed for their proprietary blade. Fortunately a de-spined Gem blade works fine.

Anyhow had a great 3 pass shave.

Those Cobras are spectacular to look at - it's the only modern SE that's ever tempted me. Nic pic. :signs154:

    Thank you Doug.

I always felt the same and when given the chance, I gave into the temptation. ;)

I'm finding the Schick Adjustable one of my least favorite injectors, it just doesn't feel right to me. With it cranked to 11 I managed a BBS beard shave but can't say I much enjoyed the experience. Hussy got head shave duty and performed satisfactorily with twins but still benefited from some clean up with the General. Kinda surprised as I think it was only the third shave with the Twins.

What are you using for a blade in the Schick Adjustable? :signs002:

Would straight razors be considered an SE? They do have a single edge. . .

    No.

A single edge razor is a type of safety razor.

A straight razor is not a safety razor.

The I1 is quickly becoming my favorite razor. I love the G1, too, but the I1 has been so effective and efficient in cleaning up my straight razor attempts the past few days. It's so comfortable and easy to use. I wasn't feeling it too much with the straight this morning. I did my cheeks and a little of the chin with decent results.

    Have a blessed Christmas Eve!

Used the PAL with a new blade this morning, and it was an entirely different animal. The new blade I put into it must have been bunked up a bit. Zoomed past my G on the racetrack, and is running firmly neck in neck with the E. I am pretty happy about this, because I really wanted to like this razor. I do. :)

    Merry Christmas Eve!
