SOTD 26-12-16 Handmade soap Le Père Lucien traditionnel Brush Proyet badger two bands 26 mm fan in handle of centenary olive tree Razor Guillermo Hoppe 24 8/8 Solingen After shave & Eau de cologne Vorago Yesterday there was work in the morning and I was charged the time my children took them to the movies, so the shave reserved for Christmas was today and is the one I present. This soap is one of the few vegans that has fallen well to my skin in protective foam, good slip of the razor and after shave sensation. The soft, smooth Proyet with excellent backbone as I enjoy it. The Hoppe in its second use, that big razor, took the hair of two days singing and sliding smoothly. Final blow with fragrances eighties, delicious. I am an inveterate sybarite. SOTD: Late posting from an early morning shave using—unlike yesterday's mammoth 8/8" Tally—this more diminutive 5/8" 'Tally Ho' from Sheffield's Frederick Fenney (1840) is a little less intimidating. Great little shaver, though. Crowne & Crane 'Cognac & Cubans' tallow soap and matching balm; Stirling 28mm synthetic brush.

Dec 26: Trying to get back on my normal schedule - Xmas threw me off. Another blade tested. This time its the Perma Sharp. A Russian made blade that goes for about $20 per 100. Teflon coated. Used my Merkur 34c, Omega Hi-Brush synthetic and Stirling Executive Man soap (just a great soap and yes its "blooming"). Not in the picture - I followed up with a splash of Thayer's witch hazel. The Perma Sharp didn't feel all that sharp. It gave me a pretty smooth shave but I needed all three passes with clean up to get a decent shave. A good shave and another blade for the "good" category. I now have 5 blades that rated "poor", 9 rating as "good", 3 rating as "very good", and 8 rating as "excellent". 5 more blades to go. When I go back and retest the "excellent" blades - I'll probably move some down to the "very good" category. Wednesday's shave will be the Ladas. Windy and cold here on the Olympic Peninsula tonight - time for a fire in the wood stove and Monday Night Football.
