  2. Hello everyone. My shave this morning was as minimalistic as it gets:

    - Herbacin Shaving Cream
    - Gillette Contour

The Cream is an "all-in-one-product". The package states: no water, no lather, no brush. And you don't need an Aftershave, just massage the leftover cream into your skin. Since I like to travel light I wanted to try this and see whether this could be an option for our next vacation.

Well - it works, but shaving is not much fun this way. You simply apply the cream on your face, let it sit for a minute or two - and then shave. Slickness was okay actually, and the cream smells pretty good. On the other hand there was quite a bit of clogging and residue-buildup between the two blades.

I've had worse shaves than this one, but I don't think I will use this stuff frequently - or ever again ;)

Route 66 Sweeney Todd today. 20 seconds to load the Elite Silvertip. Easy, thick, slick, lather. Wilkinson Sword” Light Brigade” still in the Gillette NEW SC. Excellent smooth, close shave. I finished with Henri et Victoria Cognac & Cuban Cigars aftershave.

    Razor: Pal Adj. Injector (1)
    Brush: VDH Badger
    Lather: Proraso Green
    Pre Shave: Homemade
    A/S: Aqua Velva/Hibco Butter Balm
    Newspaper Date: May 6,1945

Thanks to Mike, I got a chance to use a Pal Adj. VERY smooth two pass shave, WTG/ATG, with no bumps, grinds or weepers, for a BBS+. I will adjust up very slightly tomorrow, I think I`m SO close to the fish tank, just a slight closer. The handle is a little different than what I`m used to, but by the end of the 2nd pass it felt more comfortable. The clean up, what there was of it, seemed like the handle was an old friend. Thank you Mike, may all have as nice a shave this morn. as I did. Happy New Year and God Speed.

  11. Hey Mustache, how do you like the scent of the Irish Peat and Bog Water? I've been very tempted to order some (and Sláinte as well).
  12. I love Slàinte!! Very strong citrous (grapefruit) scent and cooling effect.
Irish Peat reminds me of "clean dirt". That's the way I describe it anyway. To get an idea, go to the hunting section at Walmart and find the natural scent waffers for hunters clothing. I really like it as well. The bog water is just a nice compliment to the Irish Peat without as strong a dirt scent.

SIGSS soaps are glicerin based and the AS feels good and clean also.

If you like vanilla brown sugar, try the Stouts.

  13. Thanks for the info. A friend gave me a sample slice of the Stout and I thought it was good soap. The scent was nice but not quite what I'm looking for in a shaving soap. The Slàinte and Irish Peat scents sound great. Guess I need to order some...
