December 29, 2016 Cobra Classic Feather Pro (6) Brothers Bristles Tuxedo MdC Fougere Witch Hazel Fine Lavender Another great shave this morning. I replaced the knot in the Brothers Bristles handle with a Tuxedo knot I received as a gift from @Douglas Carey . The Tuxedo knot looks fantastic and has good backbone with soft tips. As expected the MdC was very easy to lather. A 2 pass shave with touch ups ended in my normal near BBS. The Fine Lavender is not a prefect match to the soap but does provide a very nice contrasting herbal quality. I hope everyone has a great Thursday.
SOTD December 29, 2016 Blade: Chinese Schick Razor: Schick I1 injector Brush: Semogue 1520 boar Lather: Proraso White Post: Witch hazel splash enhanced with Barbasol Pacific Rush aftershave, Nivea sensitive balm WTG, XTG, XTG (cheeks only) I think the I1 has moved to the top of my list. I just keep reaching for it over the G1. It's so smooth and efficient. One day I'll try a Twin blade, but for now the Chicks work just fine. Proraso White was only so-so today. It has some redeeming qualities - price, availability, and a little menthol coolness. But the overall slickness wasn't much and the post-shave feel wasn't impressive at all. I'll use it off and on until it's done but probably wouldn't replace it. Have a great day!
Shoot me a PM. I have an extra one if you would like to have it. It is in nice shape with the case. Tom Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thanks to Tom's generosity I'll soon have a PAL injectomatic. Thanks Tom! The Denizens here are what makes this the best forum on the net.
Muhle Schmule dig that blade gap and exposure. My best shaver, Shake Sharp v1 turbo stabilized with twin Permasharps is a crown stubble killa, seemingly as efficient as my AC equipped razors. Twin blade hack only works on v1 Bakelite but it is transformative. An SE like shave only more better-er.
WOW Shakesharp. Ok here it goes. I made a nice slick lather with some WSP Lavenderwood using my boar brush. Grabbing the Shakesharp it felt very nice in my hand. Very similar to my Gems. Finding the angle was effortless. After the first stroke I could tell this was going to be a stellar shave. Finishing my first pass and inspecting the reduction. I would say it is on par with any of my SE's, not quite injector reduction. I proceeded thru my last two passes without ever feeling any tinge of this razor bitting me. I did my final rinse and inspected the results. I needed to re lather my neck and do a clean up pass there. The end result was a BBS All over. I am curious to see if it has the lasting power of my injectors. I am wondering if the 2 blades are actually cutting. Or if the top blade is just making the bottom blade stiffer. Resulting in a blade that is as stiff as a SE or injector blade. I will try some variations out to see what happens. This is a razor that I will now actively look for. It is a winner in my book. Thank you @jmudrick for your generosity. Tom Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Fri. 12/30/16 Wonderful shave with the PAL Adjustable injector razor this morning. Excellent lather from the Van Yulay Jared shave soap. This razor is substantial, smooth, and efficient. I'm having trouble putting this shave soap away it's just dreamy. Three passes for a dolphin smooth refreshing finish. Have a great day friends.
December 30, 2016 Cobra Classic Feather Pro (7) Brothers Bristles TuxedoMdC Fougere Witch HazelFine Lavender Another great shave this morning, The Brothers Bristles made short work lathering the MdC. Two passes and touch ups ended in a near perfect BBS only thwarted by that one spot on my lower right neck. I finished the shave with a splash of Fine Lavender. I hope everyone has a fantastic Friday,
After a long search finally got hold of a nice clean Type N. Just hope it lives up to its reputation ! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Had not planned on going nine innings with these Schick blades of indeterminate vintage (had the Injectomatic at the ready) but hey life is full of surprises, the double Schickified Shakey went all the way. $7.99 for 11oz KMF, pretty good stuff. (Addendum: look to be modern Chick DE blades)
SOTD December 30, 2016 Blade: Chinese Schick Razor: Schick I1 injector Brush: Vulfix badger Lather: Simpson's Luxury Cream Post: Witch hazel splash enhanced with Skin Bracer aftershave, Nivea sensitive balm WTG, touch-up The I1 wasn't as efficient as normal today. I think the blade wasn't as top quality as some. I'll switched it out for tomorrow's shave. Yesterday's shave on that blade was also a little more work than normal. We'll see if a new blade helps out. The Simpson's cream was terrific. First time using it. Foolproof lather with nice glide and protection. Nice shave overall. Have a great day!
Well not sure what it is but the pal razor does not do it for me. I think its too aggresive but it leaves me irritation and barely a DFS after 3 passes and touch ups. Head on over to the PIF section as I will be sending her to a new home.
I'm traveling and took the Bunny with me. It had been months since I'd used her (I've been on a straight binge...) Wow! I forgot just how amazingly close the Bunny shaves. I'm sitting here almost 10 hours later with a face that still feels dolphin smooth. It was so easy it was unbelievable. I can't say enough about how impressive this razor is.
