What a lovely brush. Even in the Mongoose I find the Supers rougher for the first couple of shaves.

So glad to be doing decadent January. I did one last month and found out the best blade for me so far. Let me tell you I have used proraso cream before with derby blades and it just did not work out. Was getting ingrown hair, razor burn. So since I found the right blade and razor combo this month I have decided to give proraso a go again.
    1) merkur 34c razor
    2) Proraso sandalwood shaving cream
    3) astra superior platinum blades
    4) badger hair brush El cheapo
    5) alum 6) lather & wood aftershave balm
I had a fantastic shave this afternoon. I am loving it so much!!! Proraso is a very good cream in my opinion and shoot for 10 bucks in the USA it is a very sweet deal.

Happy Birthday! Looks like you pulled out all the good stuff for your birthday shave, and I'm glad the Voskies performed so well. I've got one or two enroute myself.

Head shaving is an art form of its own and I remember when I decided to switch from disposable razors to a DE. I got the Merkur 23c specifically for the longer handle and have always used it along with Astra SP blades. The learning curve produced blood but now it's automatic. Rarely do I have a problem. I even used a pain stick a couple of days after being dared by @Mr. Freeze93 and pulled it off without a hitch. That's probably as bold as I'll get!

Great set up today, Jared. The shaves with Kai Captain/Feather AC will continue to get better. I really like the jimps on the Kai Captain.

I hope your shoulder continues to improve. I'm a leftie, but I hold the Feather AC with my right hand while shaving my right cheek. Otherwise, I use my left hand for the rest of the shave. Holding the razor in my right hand has never been a problem for me, and it doesn't block my vision. (Before the month's over, we all might be shaving blindfolded, so what's the big deal.) Out of curiosity, I might try the whole Pain Stick shave with my left hand next time.

First shave of the new year! Great lather, juiced it up for the long knife. Blunted heel & toe to keep the corners above my dermis but still managed to set down pokey edge on lower right neck. Gotta love blood on steel to renew attention. Working in more areas and directions of passes has it's price. Clean up with October's focus brought me to DFS with cool Alum. Splash of Ed Pinaud and I'm headed outside. Active weather and a lightning strike knocked out interwebs. Gonna see if it was my grandfather's Pecan that took the hit.
    Good Shaves y'all!

I still remember being heart broken at seeing that you pulled it off perfectly.

By the way Happy New year to all. I wasn't on to say it on New Years but I have a good reason. Even though I can still party like a rockstar I can no longer recover like one.. :sick007:

I am sure the Cartel is disgusted with me and I am awaiting my termination any day now.
