thank you all for the warm welcome.my recent purchases are ;1920s old style short comb gillette (a promo from a 1920s car dealer in saskatoon),an nos 1953 canadian tech in box,a 1957 super speed,a 65 british rocket flair tip marked k1,2 1967 black handled superspeeds(birthyear)1961 g4 fatboy,and a 1948 t0 52 canadian aristocrat jr in red case (430030).my most recent soap is the sc bignoli young,ans drjohns gold label.i have proraso,tobs ,tabac.i am waiting delivery of p and b spitfire.my brushes are semogue 830,omega boar,and razorock bruce handle synthetic.i use an old canadian old spice mug and a 1950s fire king soup bowl for lathering.jumped in with both feet.figured i should be well stocked for my fiftieth.well stocked in blades,850 up gillette sb,astras,gillette platinums,voskhods and wilkinsons.love all of them and use all regularly.full on growing hobby.
Have you tried a Vintage SE razor yet? The Schicks and Gems provide a fantastic shave and imo better than any Gillette I owned
i have seen some on the utube shaving vids but never had or tried one.i buy gem razor blades in bulk for scraping gaskets and stuff.(auto mechanic),but never knew of their origins.funny what one learns as time goes on.i will definitely have to try one in the future,thanks gary
i just received my canadian aristocrat jr 430030 base plate,looks identical to a #51 or 53,with red rocket case.i have been using a 1965? flair tip rocket. tobs soap,saponificio bignoli young(incredible stuff)gillette sb blades.tabac proraso,razorock bruce synth brush,semogue 830 boar,fine platinum aftershave,the list goes on.i also like my 67 black handle ss(birth year razor),and nos 1953 gillette canadian fat handle tech,my first razor purchased.
