My son did a deployment last year in the ROK(2ABCT 1st CavDiv) that's why I asked. Accent? What accent?

How did he like it here? My ex KATUSA guys loved being in KATUSA, they said the food is better and you get allot more practice shooting and not spending hours finding spent shells. In the Korean arm after they shoot they collect and account for all the spent shells.

Accent???

I was reading an article the other day, not sure where, but the gist was that the Appalachian dialect is disappearing, but children from that area still understand it even though they were not raised speaking it, whereas children from other regions have trouble understanding it. Personally I love finding older people who still use the old phrases and have that mountain drawl, and just spending time listening to the old stories.

I understood 95% of what the mattress salesman said. He only sounded like he had an extra 3 or 4 marbles in his mouth. These are my neighbors & kinfolk.

He said it was okay. The young Koreans were kind of on the disrespectful side. The older ones always were very nice. The KATUSA's definitely liked being with the CAV. Apparently corporal punishment has only recently stopped in the ROK Army.

Korea also has regional dialects and accents and sometimes I just get lost trying to understand them. I learned some of the accents and when I drinking with my friends I will do the accents and the piss themselves laughing, especially when I mimic the North Korean new announcer. I also will speak Korean with a Texas accent and this is usually good for laughs too.... or maybe they are so drunk they laugh at anything.

January 12 - PAL and brush focus

The Rubberset brush reknotted by yours truly is a very nice medium sized synthetic brush now - easy and comfortable to handle and whips up a good lather.

The Eternal Tub of TOBS is still eternal with no reports of any sighting of the bottom yet.

The PAL carbon blade on its 9th outing has started to show a hint of roughness and tugging once again. The end result was fine, however, with the alum revealing no irritation. I didn't bother with any sort of aftershave products.

I think the PAL blade should still be fine for shave 10 but after that I will have to bring out the old 1930s bladesaver hone if I want to try to stretch its use any further. That should be interesting:. The old razor blade honing gadgets simply don't work with modern coated stainless steel blades and I've always wondered if they really worked with the earlier carbon steel blades either and if so, how effective they were. I have half a dozen or so of these old gizmos of varying degrees of complexity and may run comparison trials of them with the PAL blades in the future - if the first one (the Stanford 5-Second Sharpener) works at all.

It was -40 today up here in Saskatchewan -- the point at which the Celsius and Fahrenheit scales match. In either scale that translates as "damn cold"...

Back on the Shark SS, no issues, but it's less sharp and smooth than Voskhod, but not enough to prevent the usual Route 66 DFS awesomeness from occurring. The Alum was quiet, and since both heroes and The Dark Side need a break sometimes, a little AV rounds out the proceedings. @Screwtape - Yesterday Denver CO briefly hit 60F, so we were a full 100f warmer than you at the time of your last post. Latitude! Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado.

Taking a break from shavettes tonight in order to insure a great shave. I have to be in court tomorrow morning so wanted to make sure I wasn't scarred for life. Nothing major or upsetting, just a routine thing but I figured a safe and quality shave tonight was the way to go.

I chose the Aristocrat, the finest Gillette made, and paired it with a Perma Sharp blade from St. Pete. This is one of my top non-Moscow blades and it's a fantastic blade. This blade and the GSB are the top two from St. Pete, in my humble opinion. Lather with the Semogue and Sweeney Todd and this was one luxurious, close and totally enjoyable shave. The scent of the Sweeney Todd is lingering and I love it more every time I use it. The baby showed up in two passes and some touch up and I'm ready to go!

Ice is still in the forecast starting sometime tomorrow so we'll see what happens. Sometimes they predict the end of the world in an icy spiral of death here only to end up with some snow flurries and a bit of rain. I'm hoping that's the case this time. If I disappear and you don't hear from me for a few days, assume I'll be back as soon as I thaw out. Have a great Friday!

You've discovered my after hours job. Mattress tag detective. We take those things seriously. If the cartel gets slow on work on the blade side there are always tag terrorists to track down.

Apparently they've been at it since they were teens.

The Mattress Police don't play. They even scare me.
