January 13, 2017 Timeless OC .95 Gap Feather (1) Shavemac D01 Silvertip Route 66 Twisted Tweed Myrsol F/Extra The January Focus on Route 66 soaps and the Timeless OC is moving along without any drama or issues. Route 66 soaps just flat out work well for me. The Timeless .95 gap OC is very smooth and efficient. Another great drama free work morning shave followed by a splash of Myrsol F/Extra. I hope everyone has a fantastic Friday.
SOTD January 13, 2017 Blade: Chinese Schick Razor: Schick J1 injector Brush: Omega 10049 boar Lather: Route 66 Twisted Tweed Post: Witch hazel splash, Fine American Blend, Nivea sensitive balm WTG, touch-up The Twisted Tweed was great this morning. The shave overall wasn't as smooth as the past few days. I've got a little more stubble on my neck than I normally do after my normal routine. But, that's okay, no worries. It looks fine and the combination of scents smells good. Enjoy your Friday!
Today was the final day of my Feather Black Focus. The blade has finally worked itself in. To be honest I was underwhelmed(ducks for cover as throwing stars come whizzing from the darkness). I think that in terms of my baseline(GSB's) that Feather is No. 2. Sunday we move on to 7 o'clock Green. I'm looking forward to it.
SOTN January 12th Gillette Red Tip Dorco Prime(2) Tabac Stirling 24mm Synthetic Crown King Scuttle B&M Cologne Russe AS Good morning friends. Last night brought in another wonderful shave from the Gillette Red Tip and the Dorco Prime. The Tabac was slick N thick as always and I though that the Cologne Russe would pair well with it because they are both somewhat floral (so said a sniff from the bottle). I gotta say Cologne Russe is not for me. It has a sweet vanilla and amber base and what I pick up as lavender top (though lavender isn't in the scent description) with just a hint of powder. In the end it felt like a very feminine scent, I would probably enjoy it on my wife but no so much on me. Have a great day my friends!
I"ll throw up a wall of Voskhod and Rapira to deflect those stars for you. Russian steel wall engage!
Just for reference, there is no difference in the Feather Black vs Yellow packaging. They are colored different merely for the destined export market
1/11 Continuing my focus on hard to lather soaps. Mitchell's Wool Fat I am using a Parker finest badger brush. I soaked the brush, shook it out and then gave it a squeeze. I was able to load it in about 1.5 min and made a copious amount of lather in my surbiachi bowl. It was slick and foamy. Although there were no bubbles popping on my cheecks, I did feel it could have had a creamier consistency but maybe I'm picking nits. Overall I am pleased with the performance and believe that most issues with MWF can be resolved by soaking the puck as described in other posts. I will give the MWF another go with a straight shave tomorrow, then next week, I will be moving on to Mystic Water Vitiver & Oakmoss.
January 13 SOTD: Razorock Plissoft Brush Arko Cool SC Gillette SS Aqua Velva Ice Blue/Musk mix The Arko cream made for a smooth shave this morning. I had a gentleman in the locker room ask me if I felt that using a brush and soap/cream made a difference. I gave him my little run down of things and he liked the smell of the cream, so a new convert may be in the works. I got a nice DFS after all the talk, finding that I really enjoyed the cream. Similar to the shave stick, there was a little more drying that with some other products, but Not enough to discourage me from using this cream in the future. I hope everyone has a great day!
Heading home Travel SOTD Route 66 Twisted Tweed Badger Brush Sensation Razor Lucky Tiger PAA Deja Fougere AS Happy Friday!
Tried out bowl lathering for the first time in many months. I think it maybe added a minute to my shaving routine. Nice and slick and the horsehair brush did well. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
I feel like I am able to get more consistent lather throughout the shave when I bowl lather. I feel like when I face lather the lather gets thinner and thinner for the subsequent passes.
Thank you! Saved me sampling something I already like. Only purchased the Yellow pack because that was available.
There is that. I guess that a brush can only hold so much lather and making it up in a bowl or mug allows for more volume? I am a two pass shaver, so the thinner lather on the second pass when face lathering isn't too bad for me, but it is nice to have a nice thick and creamy second lathering.
Hey Neal @NCoxSTL , There's a PIF for Clubman Special Reserve being offered by our @bscarpenter. I recall you ordering, but not if it agreed with you and more important for repeated use, your SWMBO. How did that go?
