G2 (Birth year) Gillette FB -- Albert
    Perma-Sharp Super (2)
    Semogue Owners Club Two-band Finest
    Soap Commander Love
Alum, Thayer's Lavender witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, and Aramis EDT

Two passes with Albert on 5 resulted in a close shave. I experimented with an ATG pass on the bulb of my chin, something I rarely attempt due to the potential for irritation, and it went fine. I attribute it to good skin stretching, blade smoothness, and maybe even the FB at a moderate setting of 5. I finished with Aramis, which is a favorite. It's potent, so a little goes a long way.

    Have a fine Thursday, gents!

  5. Thanks Buddy! Stirling gets all the credit. It seems like quite a few artisans have the achieved the perfect recipe for the lather I like. Once you reach a certain point, it is like arguing over whether Eric Clapton is a better guitar player than Stevie Ray Vaughan was. Or Ford vs. Chevy. But Stirling manages to do it at a price lower than my other favorites, which puts it at the top of my list.
  6. Perry, that's a great set-up and photo!

  7. Jim, that is the ultimate DE shavers travel kit! Have safe travels back home.
  8. It isn't that hard, a couple hours in the darkroom, some trimming and reshooting...

The IBC definitely is versatile. It is outstanding with the AC blades, but I am still up in the air with the others. It's like trying to buy a boat when you want a fishing boat, and your wife wants a runabout. Just can't be all things at once. I am going to start using DE blades in it again for a while.
  9. Guitar Player: Warren Hayes
    Ford vs. Chevy: Mopar
  10. Warren Haynes is actually probably my favorite of all time. Seen him with the Allman's once, and a couple of times with the Mule. I just didn't use him because it seems like half the time people go, "Who?"

It is a long one, but here is a KILLER video of him going at it with Joe Bonamassa. LOVE it.

You can fast forward to about 5:30, is where it starts to smoke.

  13. Excellent travel setup. I hope you've had a productive trip. Safe travels back home.
  14. Yeah. I go with Toyota too. Probably better since I have two of them in my driveway.
  15. That old Martin isn't as beat up as it looks. I think he's just playin so hot he's smoked half the lacquer right off of it.

  16. I hear that. A tool that does many things may not do any task well. Take a futon; lousy couch, horrible bed. Not that I'm disparaging your IBC. Quite the contrary as it's in my top 5 of potential shavette purchases.
  17. I had today off, and woke up feeling motivated. Having finally recovered from my last disastrous outing with the Feather SS, I decided to make the most of my time and face it head on. This is the year of conquering.

    Razor: Feather SS Kamisori
Blade: Feather Pro (the exact same blade that did me in)
    Soap: Route 66 Bourbon Jungle
    Aftercare: Alum Block
    Cologne: Tabac

The key today? I TOOK MY TIME. I tend to get a little overconfident as a shave goes along. That was my downfall last time. This time, I really took my time. Short strokes with the blade, each carefully measured. The Bourbon Jungle smells amazing. If they could make that scent in a cologne I would wear inappropriate amounts of it. I emailed them to ask if they could. I recommend you do the same. Anyway...

...Results of facing my least favorite razor with steady resolve? A very solid DFS in two true passes with no cleanup. I could not believe it. No nicks, no cuts...I didn't even feel any irritation. I tested it with alum just to see. Quietest it has ever been on my. No burn at all. Skipped the aftershave, balm, etc and celebrated by going straight to Tabac.

  18. Thanks, Charlie. It is a great travel set up, and really a pretty good everyday set up, if one wanted to get real simple.
