Basil Hayden's is a original bourbon. So good, if you didn't know IT was in your glass, you would have that feeling it's expensive. It is a great bargain. I Enjoy Basil Hayden when I want a light bourbon. Good stuff.
That it is - along with Woodford Reserve they are my favorite bourbons. I am retired military so I buy my spirits on base where there are no taxes. The Bangor Trident Submarine base is nearby. They are having a special on Basil Hayden's this month. $29.95 per bottle. Normally its around $44. Obviously I stocked up.
Woody is my favorite too. If they are out, Buffalo Trace.. Basil has a flowering sophistication. Good bourbon for women. I live in Lancaster Pennsylvania, they have nothing here. l am dying for some Pappy Van Winkles. You are lucky with the base. Pappy is getting harder and harder to find. You ever try Bulleit or Pappy ?
Pappy is the Golden Goose. Even cigars soaked in it are a hard find + expensive. I had to laugh the other night. I was at a dive bar and I asked what kind of bourbon they had and they asked me "you mean whiskey". I spotted the Old Grand dad bottle and I kindly asked for that. lol Merry Christmas to you and your family. Sincerely Mike
3 fingers of Pappy Van Winkles. I have been waiting years for a bottle. Great bourbon. Really great bourbon, but now you mention it, I have Hershey Chocolate Milkshakes ( thick chocolate milk ) and some nice Jamaican overproof to add to it. Okay, going for the rum, I was craving something, but couldn't figure it out. Must of been a combination of your glass, and the rum balls I had earlier.
Just finished watching Clemson beat up on Ohio State and now waiting for (9 p.m. west coast time) to watch the ball drop in Times Square. Time zones are great. - I don't have to stay up until midnight. Having a glass of Woodford Reserve bourbon while I wait. Then I can go to bed.
Woody is some great stuff and my usual. Trying to nurse this bottle of Pappy's. You like Buffalo Trace ?
Only tried Buffalo Trace one time. Bought a bottle a year or so ago. I thought it was good. My spectrum of whiskies is pretty large. As retired military I buy my spirits on base. Usually they have a good variety of bourbon and scotch, but every so often they run out of a particular brand that I buy and I will try something else. They are starting carry some of the small craft distillery whiskies now - I will have to try some of them.
Drinking the last of a bottle of Plantation XO 20th Aniversary Rum whilst curled up in my recliner reading "Stand to It and Give Them Hell, Gettysburg as the Soldiers Experienced It From Cemetery Ridge To Little Round Top, July 2, 1863" by John Michael Priest.
Last night I finished my bottle of Plantation XO 20th Anniversary Rum. So today as I was out running errands, I stopped and picked up another. That my friends is 4 ozs. of Barbados' best, backed by the movie that "made" Humphrey Bogart in Hollywood. I'll be drinking and watching. Have a great evening.
