I abandoned last year and have a few hundred razors to show for it. I am in it to win it this year. Unless, of course, THAT razor shows up on the radar...
Glacial is a product range, so yes, we both think it's up there. I read that post, you had the Glacial version, if memory serves.
Given a choice between spending the year shaving with a shavette razor like the Captain Kai that I didn't nick myself with or staying in an NB and either losing a lot of blood to my existing razor or else giving up on trying shavettes at all for the year, I would dump an NB in a heartbeat too. There's reasonable restraint and then there's just being stupid about it.
Aside from just enjoying the stuff I already have, my goal is really to finish the year with less stuff than I started with. The longer I continue to NB (take 2), the better the odds.
January 30, 2017Timeless OC .95 GapFeather (3)WDC-6 with Sunrise SyntheticRoute 66 Rum Runner As usual the weekend was entirely too short. At least a great shave is a good way to start the work week and this morning's shave delivered. Two passes and minimal touch ups ended in a near BBS. I hope everyone has a great Monday.
Shave 36: -IBC Razor -Simpson Beaufort 5 -Stirling Iced Pineapple -Stirling Orange Chill @crackstar - I guess this one's for you buddy. So I really M Bombed the hell out of my lather this morning. Depending on the load, 10 drops or so will take an "iced" Stirling soap and take it to a glacial level. Well it was really early, and I remember counting to six or seven drops, then spacing out, then going "oh $#|]". It looked in the bowl like it wasn't so bad, so I didn't try taking any out, and the lather held together so I know it couldn't be THAT much..... Well it was epically arctic. I love a good face freeze, but this was kind of over the top. Half way through the second pass I damn near gave up with the shavette and went to a safety razor because I really couldn't feel much of what I was doing. All I could think of was comedian Doug Stanhope saying "Sometimes I take two Ex Lax and two Xanax and play chicken in my sleep...." Sometimes I completely deaden all the nerve endings in my face and watch in the mirror while I rub it all over with razor blades. I went really slow, and had to keep dabbing my face with a towel to get the tears out of my eyes so I could see. It actually turned into a pretty good shave, and no blood was spilled. The huge amount of menthol put a little damper on the slickness I normally get, but it was still good enough to use. My Orange Chill AS has added crystals in it to bring it up to that Glacial point, and when I put it on, it just felt room temperature. So the lesson from today's focus shave is to pay attention when you are adding your M Bomb.
