Hey, I just shaved today with a Feather "Hi-Stainless" blade in an Edwin Jagger "Kelvin" and it's the best resulting blade I've used in the EJ razor. It's a great match. No nicks at all like I usually get when using a 'new' blade in the EJ. So, this was a perfect combo. I have only used the feather blade in one other razor (DaveOcean33 "Atlas") but it didn't do so well in that one. The Feather blade seems to do well so far in less-aggressive razors. I will continue to experiment though. I will keep testing different blades in the EJ Kelvin, but so far, I can't imagine any blade giving a better shave in this razor than the Feather just did for me today. The razors I've tested in the EJ Kelvin so far: Derby Extra Gillette Silver Blue Gillette Green 7 O'clock Gillette Yellow 7 O'clock Astra Green Platinum *-Feather "Hi-Stainless" I still have the following to test: Gillette Black 7 O'Clock Gillette Platinum Voskhod Teflon Coated
I get it alright. I just forget to write it down half the time and then I forget. About a week ago I put a Personna Red in one of my fat handled Techs. Normally a Personna Red is nothing more than just a average blade for me so I've never once thought I should buy a hundred pack. And a fat handled Tech (I have several of them) is usually nothing more than an average mild razor for me. But the combination of the two produced a fabulous shave that I intend to repeat. Looking back I'm not sure why I picked a Personna Red (I don't have that many and I hardly use them) and a fat handled Tech (mostly they just sit on the shelf) but it really turned out great. I'm going to guess it has something to do with the physics of the particular razor and the physics of the particular blade and how those combine and coordinate with various beard and skin types. Now if I could just keep better notes...
I'll be curious to find out how the Gillette 7 O'clock Black works for you. I seem to be able to put that blade in any razor. Of course I could also say that about the Feather, the Astra SP, the SuperMax SP Tiger, and the Gillette SuperThin.
