SOTD February 1, 2017 Blade: Chinese Schick Razor: Schick G1 Brush: Artisan badger Lather: Fine American Blend Post: Witch hazel splash enhanced with Stirling Executive Man aftershave, Nivea sensitive balm WTG, touch-up Nice return to the G1 after touring several injectors and SEs over the past month. The G1 is an awesome razor. Nice, smooth, and comfortable shave this morning with this combination that was generated by a randomizer program. Have a great day!
eBay is in Alert Mode, awaiting feverished bids soon. At Defcon 4 now... ...we have ways of knowing...
I replaced the Feather in the SE with a fresh Plus Platinum, my reference blade. Very close and comfortable shave, though I did screw up under the chin applying pressure where I shouldn't. At the end of the head shave the back of the noggin felt pretty smooth but I had a feeling there was still some residual stubble. Indeed, feedback from the Shake Sharp/Wilkie where I got none from the SE told the tale. I would never notice the difference on my face but it's clearly there. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
My dad was cleaning out and brought me three Life magazines from 1961. They contained articles on the centennial of the Civil War. I'm a history buff and he is too, so he knew I would like those. I was flipping through them tonight and saw this ad. Cool stuff! @Paul Turner - how about that Rise cream at $0.79??
That is the Rise I want today!!!!!! I'm a history buff, too. Thanks for thinking of me with that, Perry.
Y'know what's interesting-the description of the original Rise is very much like the one I have-with the current one they took a bit of the fragrance away that made Rise was it was/is.

Not to mention old editions of Life magazine Everything, the articles, pictures, and the advertisements... Thanks for sharing.... PS....ahhh man...I just noticed...Rise with menthol....ahh man now I have a hankering....!!!
SOTD February 2, 2017 Blade: GEM Stainless Razor: GEM Pushbutton Brush: Artisan badger Lather: Soap Commander Fortitude Post: Witch hazel splash enhanced with Stirling Mountain Man aftershave, Nivea sensitive balm WTG, touch-up Nice and enjoyable shave with the Pushbutton this morning (it could very well be the same model as in the ad I posted above). It's quite efficient and easy to use. Light pressure and just swipe the lather away. Works great! Terrific lather from Soap Commander. I forget how good that soap is when I haven't used it in a while. Have a great day!
Shake Sharp v2 with a Gillette Silver Blue. A super aggressive razor without the stabilizing blade that helps smooth the Bakelite version results in a super close BBS shave but not without a bit of irritation. Need more practice with this one. And man this thing is louder than any of my SEs. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
@Karl G : Was it you that was asking earlier when I first got the IBC shavette about it clamping down on the blades? Had so e troubles today, I wrote about it in today's 30 day thread.

Thanks for the post Perry. Your post got me looking up vintage ads for Gem razors. Here's a similar offer from Gem in 1958. The price went up by only 2 cents! I never knew ASR made shaving cream. A thread with vintage ads would be very cool!
