I am looking forward to your thoughts at the end of the month. The Rocca is a very beautiful razor.

    Blade: GEM Stainless
    Razor: GEM Pushbutton
    Brush: Artisan badger
    Lather: Soap Commander Fortitude
Post: Witch hazel splash enhanced with Stirling Mountain Man aftershave, Nivea sensitive balm
    WTG, touch-up

Fine result this morning. Soap Commander is excellent - great lather, shiny, slick, etc. Good stuff! The Pushbutton swiped away the lather easily and efficiently. I like morning shaves that are effortless, even if I don't achieve the closest shave. I want to avoid irritation and enjoy the shave instead of trying to get every single whisker and be BBS.

    Have a great day!

This video is terrific. I've used this method several times and it works really well.

I went longer with the 65-Slim than I have before, which was good, but I still felt the need to be rescued by the Sensor Deuce. I think what I'll try for the next few shaves(when I use soap that is), is the usual 2-pass method, with Pass 1 being done by the Slim, Pass 2 with the Sensor Deuce. In the meantime, I will do some "scientific adjustmens" with the Slim. We'll, I'm down to my last Stirling A.S. sample-Sandpiper. Saved the best of em(IMO)for last.

    2 February 2017 Groundhog Day Blade/Focus Shave
Well, the furry rodent in PA saw his shadow. Six more weeks of winter(Bleech!). Anyway, on to the shave. Trotted out the Trumper GFT. Again, the Omega 10098 produced a prodigious lather. The GSB is starting to show signs of weakening. But it's okay, as tomorrow is the last day for it. Two passer, no cleanup and quiet alum. Icy cold towelx2, a splash of Canoe and the day was underway. Happy Thursday! I'm out.

OK Chris, I will. That will have to begin today though, as I made a comment about my shave in the Focus thread, but didn't list the whole shave.

Do you do WTG then ATG, or two WTG, or what? Maybe try turning that slim all the way down and doing your second pass. It might not get you as close as you want, but it would get you familiar with doing it.

On the cheeks I go from down to up, neck same way, chin up to down. That's a good point about turning it down-that's how it was set when I received it.

oh, and let me add: I suppose I go "ATG" on my jawline, then I kind of "chip away" at it with up-to-down strokes(chips?)....something I found really works.

First shave of the week with my SA-109 is on a two day growth. Dial it to "9" with a Voskhod, WTG. Second pass down to "7" XTG cheeks & chin, ATG neck. Usually no touch up after that. During the week it's "7" &. "5" or "8" & "6".

A lot of people change the setting for each pass. Some start high and go lower for the cleanups, and others do it the exact opposite. Meanwhile Gillette in the original manuals suggested changing settings to shave areas that were more and less sensitive (e.g. high on the cheeks and lower on the touchier neck region). And then there are still other users who just find one setting they like and set it and forget it.

There are a lot of different ways to play with an adjustable. Have some fun experimenting to find your own favorite.
